Title: head+preamp wiring ?!
Post by: Emperor on October 03, 2008, 02:53:05 AM
Hey guys
I would just like to know what would be the easiest way to hook up my ENGL e530 Preamp to my peavey JSX head, so i can use the ENGL as rythm and  JSX ultra channel as lead.    I  just have the footswitch for the peavey (not for the preamp)

Do I need a Y wire or something?

Kindest regards!!

Hmmmm.
You'll need to put the Engl into the Peavey's FX loop return, to get decent results.

Is the FX loop footswitchable on/off on the Peavey ?

What things are potentially footswitchable on the Peavey, and on the Engl ?  (with the right footswitches of course).

the fx loop on a 5150 is switchable.. so i assume the JSX is... as ham said it needs to be as plugging the engl into the FX return would stop any sound from the jsx preamp getting into its power section.

if you can you could have your guitar signal running to both preamp ins.. then change chan with the fx loop on/off switch.

You may need to transformer isolate the two signal paths to avoid ground hum.

Also a switcher to route the ENGL and the Peavey preamps to the power section of the Peavey
