Title: Good/ high-end LP hardware

What are the characteristics of 'good' hardware?

I'm building a LP, and i want it to have the best (within reason, obviously) hardware, to make it a really great guitar. People talk of using an aluminium stop-bar, but why not steel? Are Kluson tuners the best, or are there other vintage-style tuners that are better?

Please enlighten me on the way of the Les Paul hardware! Everything needs to be taken into consideration, the only thing i have decided, is the Schaller straplocks :)

I have my own preferences which I often use on my Lion series
Two that I would suggest :
Tonepros Kluson tuners if you like the Keystone style tuner
I like Sperzels for this as well

I think I favour an aluminium tailpiece as well having tried it a number of times
My preference seems to be for a Tonepros tunamatic, and tonepros locking studs (rather than the grubscrew tailpiece) holding an aluminium tailpiece

I also like Earvana nuts and BKPs

Uhh thought you might want to see this. This guy Roman Rist makes these tailpeices and stop bars out of quality steel, and apparently its supposed to increase your sustain by 3 seconds!! I just found out about these. On the next page back you will find more about this in Amazing TOM bridge or something like that
