Title: Pickup searching again.
Post by: fatbagg on October 09, 2008, 01:44:11 AM
Ok, got a USA spalt maple topped dean ml Exotic coming in, and guess what...MAY be changing pickups, depends.

I should say that the closest pickup Ive found in bridge position tonally is the dimarzio tone zone (FAT mids and BIG bass response, rounded/lowered highs...the pickups main focus in more in its lower mids), but I own a miracle man in the neck of another ml, and its..well, amazing.

I'm torn between a tonezone (would prefer not to own another) or a bareknuckle that is tonally geared somewhat similar (good bass, GREAT almost honky full mids, lowered and rounded highs).  Ive also considered suhr humbuckers (mainly aldrich).   HELP guys, Im a lead guitar player, all instrumental music...Need something (bridge) than is MAZING for leads (thats where I spend 95% of my playing), full mids and sustain, decent power.

if your miracle man is really the neck version, just try it in the bridge
the neck mm has a very similar voicing (and specs) to the tone zone
it works pretty well in the bridge for some guitars
it's like a holy diver, but darker, a bit fatter and more compressed

Lots of mids? Tight Bass response? Lots of power?

Painkiller jumps to mind.
