I'm thinking of a new custom guitar project. It'll be a Les Paul style guitar with some special modifications in the construction. I'm already pretty much set on getting a ceraming 'Pig for the bridge. I've got an Alnico V 'Pig in my Gibson SG, and I'm very pleased with the sound. For the future custom guitar, I want the same kind of basic bridge pickup type, except that I want a little more focus and even more power, so the ceramic 'Pig seems the obvious choice. The bridge pickup in this guitar is supposed to give a crushing metal sound.
However...I've been drawing sketches of what the custom guitar should look like, and I'm currently planning to get all-gold hardware. Looking at the Warpig page in the BKP shop, it's only offered with the distressed cover. Is this really the case? I don't want to bother Tim just yet, because the guitar project might take a year or two. I would like to know if anyone has ever got Warpigs with other cover options than distressed. If it's not available with a gold cover, that would be a deal breaker for me - and I'd need to either rethink the guitar concept or choose a different bridge pickup. :(
Then of course there is the matter of choosing a neck pickup. It seems that I'm flooded with options here:
Warpig: getting a calibrated set seems the obvious choice, provided that I could get them with gold covers.
Crawler(/Abraxas): I currently have a Crawler set in a Gibson LP Standard, and I must say that this is the greatest sounding PAF-style neck pickup I've ever heard in my life! Abraxas is supposedly pretty much similar but not quite as hot. I wonder how well it blends with the C-Pig, but separately they would be my #1 favorite neck pickup and my #1 favorite metal bridge pickup.
Cold Sweat: This is supposedly pretty good for Dave Murray or Yngwie Malmsteen style lead sound in the neck position. Wouldn't mind that, either.
P90 Warpig: For a little more vintage style 'Pig sound in the neck position.

As far as I remember, yes there is the option of golden pigs :lol:

I'm tempted to have the same done in chrome for a pickup should I get round to buying another guitar and BKP set.
