I'd be very grateful if you guys could take a quick look at this and say if you reckon its any good/suggest any changes. I just joined the uni radio station and got an email from them saying they're having a competition to design a poster to advertise their last broadcast on the current license. Thought I'd give it a go, heres what I came up with..

and here it is without the stroke on the date etc..

Cant tell if the stroke works on the date/final rsl broadcast bit, might be a bit too much? Obviously it wont say "-demon fm logo-" on the final one, they're adding that in themselves. It'll be all over campus and apparently the winner gets a "special prize" so I'd like to give it a good go :)

It looks far bolder with just the white on black for the text.
With text you need it to look professional otherwise people won't be hooked and as far as I can tell with my (GCSE and almost A-level) knowledge of Graphics you need it to be as bold as possible without losing its shape.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm stating the obvious as you are much more qualified than I.
I do have to say though that I'm not too fond of the font. For 'Demon' FM I would have used a sharper, harsher text in bright red but I think that might be down to my personal tastes.

Looks good tom. Might be my monitor, but I can't see much difference (and I'm meant to be a tecnical author!!). What do you mean by a "stroke", I think I can detect a slight hint of red on the edges of the date/final rsl text on the first version, is that what you mean? (Looked again, can't see it now )
But anyway, good looking poster - if walked past it I would accept it as professional. Good control of fonts too (ie only two, and the only different one is to emphasise the URL) - actual choice of font doesn't worry me, but it is telling me (a 45 year-old) things like "modern", "this station broadcasts what the students want". Of course, if the broadcasts are mainly Frank Sinatra and Gracie Fields, then the font might be misleading!!

I am Glad Andy said that cos I have been scratching my head ( in a virtual kind of way). To me it looks pretty darn good as it is.

Yes the stroke is the red outline on the top bit of text and the grey outline on the "radio on your terms" part :P I made the grey stroke a bit smaller/darker which looks better, kept the stroke off the top bit and its been submitted now so we'll see what happens :)
Thanks for the replies

Good luck with it :D

Cheers :) I'm at home on my laptop now and can hardly see the stroke either, whereas on my fairly decent monitor at uni you can definitely see it much clearer.
