I remember a Hammet signature wah. Someone posted a picture of but I can't find it.

It had a sneaker attached to it and no off switch.

Ugh don't get me started on Hammet  I think its impossible for him to play a solo without a wah pedal.

I heard once they locked his wah away in a metallica-proof box and he still played a solo that was 100% wah wankage.

As they say...wah is all in the fingers
>_>

<_<

There are no solos worth mentioning on Death Magnetic, tbh. Christ, *even I* can play solos better than some of those efforts! It's almost like Lars said "don't bother putting that final take on, we'll go with the first one that was all boring and had lots of phrases starting and finishing on the tonic. Then we'll EQ the **** out of it, like I did with my wonderful drums."

Other than that, I really like the album, but the lead work (and drum EQ) is a real let down for me, personally.

Do you mean the actual distortion on the drums? listen my judas clip tone test in the players section i used the stem files from the guitar hero version of DM and the drums arent distorted at all. I believe it was just a side effect of the shitety brickwalling.

Cant be a hammet wah.

Theres no surgery kit to graft it onto your foot.

Any true hammet wah would have to have a portion of it replace much of your foot to properly integrate with your body. It would be called the metawahsal.

No, I've sourced the guitar hero version of the album, and this has replaced my retail copy now. At least the drums sound better than St Anger. I almost can't listen to that album because of the snare drum, now. <shudders>

I don't mind his playing up until the Black Album, really. He does some nice stuff on the earlier albums.

I'm going to quote Philly here "don't you mean the old quality street tin full of nuts and bolts?"

And also, the snare is the only reason you can't listen to St Anger?

some of kirk's solos off rtl, mop and ajfa were inspiring....

i think kirk would be a better blues guitarist than metal nowerdays.

Oh, some of the old stuff was good. The solo to battery comes to mind.

But he's been recycling the same old licks for nearly 20 years now, his new solos have no sense of progression, no structure to speak of, minimal melody and are generally obnoxious and live he can be quite shockingly bad.

Yeah, dave, he does seem like a nice chap. Its nothing personal.

His 80s solos were mediocre at best, to be honest. There were better guitarists around in the thrash scene. Black Album had some really nice solos, as did Load and ReLoad. In other words, he didn't really get good until he realized he couldn't shred. (IMO, of course)

he wasnt the most technical shreadder... or a shreadder at all.. but that does not mean that his stuff was no good.  which is a good thing cos i can only listen to the same swept arpegios so many times
