A friend of mine is looking for an amp mainly for home practice, and possibly jamming sessions, and here is what he is looking for:
He plays a lot of different styles, and is looking for an amp that will have good cleans, and a nice distortion. He plays a lot of metal, but would prefer to get a general all round good amp, and use pedals to play higher gain stuff.
My first thought was a TT, as it's small, (he doesn't want anything big really, but a small half stack like the TT may work) it sounds good, and i'm pretty sure it takes well to pedals. Although atm he is a student without a job, so it's just (although not by much) out of his price range I think.
He then showed me this:

This is easily in his price range, although I haven't even seen any reviews/clips or anything of this amp. Does anyone have any views on this? As it does look like a neat little amp, although I have a fear it may sound bad, but just look like a good home practice amp.
Realistically, he is probably looking to spend around £100-400 or so, but won't go above that I wouldn't think, and 400 is probably a but of a push.
If anyone has any suggestions on a decent combo/mini-stack etc, could you let me know please? :) Cheers
Ben.

The blackstar mini combo reviewed in Guitarist this month looks like very good value for money. Just over £300.00 for the head and cab.

That blackstar comes in a 250 quid combo as well doesn't it?
-
Yep, it does come in a combo.
And thanks guys, I did think of the Blackstar, but wasn't really sure. Seems good enough.
Anyone else got any other ideas? I will let him know about the Blackstar, see if he likes it.

I got the Blackheart modded by Rat - I hven't posted any clips yet, but it's pretty damn cool... £280 for the head.
