Title: Superstrat: Miracle Man or War Pig for Children of Bodom+Rammstein tones?
Post by: Pacarazzi on October 28, 2008, 10:19:53 AM
I'm brand new to the forums, so hey there everyone. I don't own any Bare Knuckles pick ups but I'm definately going to soon. I have a Fender American Deluxe Strat (with an alder body) with a Floyd Rose Orginal Bridge. I've been doing a lot of research online, and at this point my choices have come down to the Miracle Man, the War Pig, or the War Pig Ceramic. I want in-your-face Children of Bodom (Alexi Laiho) tones, as well as heavy, focused, and powerful Rammstein tones. I emailed Tim about the Children of Bodom tone, and he suggested the Miracle Man. When I asked about the Rammstein tone, he said the Miracle Man still works, and possibly the painkiller. Personally, I like a full sound and good treble without too many mids, so I've come down to these choices. Any suggestions, tips, and clips would be greatly appreciated!

The exact tones I'm really going for:

In Your Face by Children of Bodom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLAjKtmT3lk

If You Want Peace Prepare for War: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB71RDJhxNM

Are You Dead Yet? by Children of Bodom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBaYbOnp7hU

Keine Lust by Rammstein: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dQ-y0fTqfg

The miracle man is a good version of the emg 81 pickup that is used by Rammstein and Alexi Laiho (in the passive hz version) so it's the best choice for that sound. It also has only very few mids

Hi. Welcome to BKP.
Im a big fan of COB too. I also have a MM in the bridge of my Washburn super strat...

Its a great pickup perfect for COB.
It really opens up when you hold a bend. Mine starts to howl (in a good way).

Chugging down at the lower frets COB style sounds great. The MM is fine for the drop C tuning.
The Painkiller would be fine too.

Never heard a War Pig though so I cant comment...

Let me know what happens...

 Cheers. Rich.

Old Rammstein (Sonne): Miracle Man

New Rammstein (Keine Lust): Warpig

I remember some guy here with a platinum les paul that had a warpig and the miracle man worked better
don't remember what he was playing, but rammstein always come to mind when I think of that guitar

but the MM definitely works better for children of bodom

Well looks like I'll probably be getting a Miracle Man. I just hope it sounds thick enough in my guitar. The War Pig is still really tempting though..does anyone have some clips comparing these? I've already looked at A LOT on the players forum. And if not clips, can anyone make a list for each of the 3 pickups and give a few popular bands that the pickups would sound the most like? thanks!
