New combo and mini stack versions. Great looking price and good review in guitarist and they have the trademark ISF (infinite shape feature) control. I'm gassing for a smaller (valve) amp and the market is getting bigger and better. For bedroom use and recording. (student budget)
Laney Lionheart
Orange Tiny Terror
Blackstar HT5
Any more? <£500

Blackheart have a 1w head with a single volume pot - that should sort you for bedroom/recording use. I've installed a mod on one of my own amps where you can select between two 6V6s (15w) or a single ECC82 (1w) and I can confirm the 1w mode sounds great and is crankable flat-out at bedroom volumes.

Sounds real good but i like lots of knobs to twist. I don't have many pedals so I'de like one that gives me good versatility straight away. Gain is good to because i like it metal! I've also never had a shared EQ but thats not something of scared of cause clean isn't a HUGE deal to me.

none of the amps listed in your OP will do metal without a pedal. well, actually, the Blackstar probably will - thats the only one.
if you're ok with using a pedal, try a Blackheart 5w 1x12 with a Blackstar Dual HT.

I heard the combo DI into a PA system tonight and it sounded great, ooh that's a play on words to where I heard it. I'm going to have to go and play with these when they get them in!

Well i have a marshal vibrotrem which i use as a boost which makes a nice metal sound. I don't have the gain that high! usually around 12 o clock. its tighter and more articulate that way. But i'de like to try more pedals now.
The Line output looks really cool aswell!!

I use my Orange TT with no pedals and I play Guns n Roses with it. When I put my Vox Bulldog in front of it I get any distorted sound I want. With a bit of Delay-reverb-Chorus its absolutely everything I need.
The Orange TT amazes me every time I turn it on

It is a very awesome amp. Just make sure you have a good cab to put it through!

I have an Orange Cab

Which one? The 112?

yea the 112
its enough for my situation when i have to play quiet most of the time

I have a Randall Cab. Its not an american one it was 250 from andertons, s'got custom celestion 80's. Do you think if i get small tube head i should get a different cab too? I've seen a bogner front ported 1x12" for like £150 would that kind of thing probably be better due to better build, speakers, woods e.t.c.
I like tight bass that why the closed ported cab sounds nice to me.

I would only get a new cab if you aren't happy with the one you already have. If it sounds fine through your (potential) new head, then don't bother.
From what i've heard of 112s, they can sound quite "boxy". The one i'm thinking about getting is a Laney 212 shown below

I can't remember who, but someone recommended it to me on this forum.
