My cats, Barney and Sorcha, love reading the BKP forum .... or actually, in reality, they love getting in my way as I try to read the forum.
Who else here loves their cat(s) ? Lets see photos of your moggies, or even pedigrees !

i like cats alot and would really like to have one.
when i was living with my family, my mum said it wasn't allowed. at uni, pets were banned. now living in london my girlfriend tells me it would be cruel to have a cat in my appartment :/
but i will have one someday!

Shots of my old cat Ginger - who sadly died in 2004 after having him for 18 years. Until I settle down again I am satisfying my cravings by looking after the neighbour's cats when they are away

Are you giving an example of the old 'just cause you've got hair around your mouth doesn't mean you can talk like a c##t!'?
btw - aren't those pictures of Yusef Iaslam?

Alas! I am a pussy lover who is allergic to cats (NB careful phraseology) :(
Roo
how allergic? could be a painfull sunday;) the thing about cats is that they always know the person who doesnt like them... and purposely ignore everyone else. ah well, if its a problem we can turn the amp up - that should drive them away!!
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPzNl6NKAG0&feature=bz302
I want this breed of cat.
-
no mate, it's fine for a while. We used to have a cat when I was little, and I was fine then, but I found I was allergic to them soon after meeting my wife - I went round to her parents' house for the first and last time without antihistamines!
But don't get me wrong, I absolutely love them :) The allergic reaction typically takes about an hour to kick in, depending on how much fur is on the carpet and how much I stroke the cat :)
Roo
PS I'll bring pills :)
-
i will hoover.... maybe!! ;)
we have been talking about getting a main coon, they look like fun

That's LOLCAT worthy. I love cats, we've got 3, but I've recently formatted the computer so I have no pictures of them on here.

Wow, Some fantastic shots.
I'm amazed how many of us are cat lovers. Surely a higher % than in the "average" population.
Must be something to do with the good taste involved in playing the guitar. Or maybe it's just the sheer quality of the foks on this forum !
I do wonder if you'd find as many HC guitar/amp forum members who are potty about their pussies.
-
There are loads of cat lovers on Guitar Jam (I cant stand the bloody things - dogs ftw!), I dont know about the other forums but I seem to remember post your pets threads a while ago so maybe.

I prefer dogs. I used to be horribly allergic to cats but after spending a lot of time at my ex-girlfriends place with 7 cats I can tolerate(and kind of like) them now. Anyway here's my 8 year old lab Mel Gibson...actually it's just Max:

Me too, dogs FTL. :P Cats are selective, so you know if you get their affection it actually means something. A dog, on the other hand, will slobber all over anyone that shows the slightest interest (generally, unless trained differently or beaten). Dogs are needy animals, wolves aren't, but then, they do travel in packs. Cats, however, are their own animal, highly intelligent and independent - just their discrimination alone shows intelligence. I hate needy people, so naturally i am not attracted to an animal that requires so much just to get through the day to day, it is kind of pathetic (as are needy people - thus the analogy). Plus cats tend to be cleaner animals; obviously it depends on the individual, but to make a general distinction it seems to be the case.
Pictures of mine soon to come!

Border collies ftw.

Collies are great as well..have had a few

I like cats, but developed an massive allergy to them when I lived in a squat with hippies in the 1990s (probably an allergy to hippies, who as we all know suck).

i think the dog owners should get their own thread ;)
the missus is really into dogs. i think she might be turning me round to them a bit. but not really. cats are more like girls and can be difficult at times, so its more of a challenge
.

i wish I could get a picture of this. My cat has decided to sit on my lap which unfirtunately also has a lap op on it. She keeps trying to pat my fingers and I;m typing. Sorry about spelling, it's bloosy had to type, but is quite funny. Cat seems to like it too

Absolutely beautiful cat, Opprobrium_9.
What "make" is he/she ?
Yeah, she's gorgeous, isn't she. She is an Abyssinian. There are different accounts where the breed originated. However, it is generally excepted that they came from North Eastern Africa; no futher down than Ethiopia, and as far up as Egypt. If you take a look at some Egyptian hieroglyphs/wall adornments, you will notice an uncanny resemblance. Though, i have not read this specifically, i like to think that Abyssinians are one of the original domesticated cats (since there are several others from that area), straight out of Egypt. :D
-
and a very sphinx-like pose it is, too :)

That is one seriously beautiful cat Opprobrium 9 .

Kieko - Possibly the most evil looking cat in the world, and the most useless. As stealthy as a WWF wrestler and as accomplished a killer as Mary Poppins. Falls off things... My brother's cat.

Ninja (originally called Angel... ). The picture doesn't do justice to how small she is. She's tiny, cute and a complete killing machine. She's actually next doors cat, but she kips in our bird table most of the time. I like Ninja a lot. My kind of cat.

Great cats, and great photography too, Juansolo !

if only! what the picture doesn't show is him wanting to let his head rest, just next to the fret I'm trying to do...then getting interested in my hands and biting/clawing them...then stealing the wire wool...etc. etc.

Here are better pictures of my two remaining treasures, Jester ( the 'old boy' ) ; Oscar ( A.K.A 'Shaft' ) - and a retrospective picture of sweet little Miss Daisy, who passed away in 2005 (*sniff*).

He's a british short hair lilac colour point! His dad is a cream though. I'll take some better pictures soon because that doesn't really do his colour justice.

Here is Angus, a Burmese cross. All the character of a Burmese, with the penchant for fighting his farm cat father had. Hence the tatty ear ... poorly leg ... missing tail (amputated after injury) ... broken tooth ... lets just say the cat insurance has been more than worth it! Love him to bits of course!

38th - really unusual colours on your cat. Like it!

Thanks Ian-yeah she is a fine specimen. We got her from the Cats Protection League when we went on an open day -saw her and had to have her.

Again here's another guitarist who loves his cats.
These are our two daft furballs :-
Mikki and Finn
(Mikki is the blue point, and Finn is the Seal Tabby, or stripey lummox as I call him)
They're half brothers, and Mikki is 2 years older than Finn. Mikki is firmly the boss though, and he beats the cr@p out of any cat that gets anywhere near his territory - which basically now is our entire village. They pedigree cats called Birmans, but Mikki has 2 broken teeth, numerous scabs from endless fights, and claws that are lethal.......at home though he's a complete softy
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f301/jonesy76/282.jpg)
Finn though never roams further than our neighbours, and basically is about as agile as a house brick!
He's funny though when you play the piano and find that some of the keys don't work properly.......
Or the wife tries to do some work and gets declared a snooze spot fot the afternoon.....
The 2 of them like nothing more than a good fight, (and the house brick was Mikki's........he never loses a fight no matter what! :D)
But they're good buddies overall
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f301/jonesy76/IMG_0578.jpg)

Heres one of my girlfriends fathers cats, hes pretty funny since when i first was there and had a roland cube and guitar with me he came out and went right infront the amp while i was playing atleast decently loud on the rectifier setting. He didnt seem to react at all, so he must be pretty close to deaf. Hes really funny though and probably one of my favourite cats :) His name is Tiger which i think suits him pretty well;)

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone.
All I know that the guy who ran over Louise drove a white delivery car like a Berlingo, Caddy or Combo. There's dozens of those driving by every day so I'll never know who it was.
I hope karma will get the barsteward.
-
That is one uber cute kitten! :D
Had both me and the missus going "ahhhhh"
-
Adorable! Me and the wife are both cooing over her :)
Almost enough to get another cat ... almost. 2 is definitely the limit for cats IMO!

Beautiful pictures 'Hideandseek' - thanks for sharing. :)
I especially love the close up of a tired and well fed Pip : - reminds me of a lovely cat we had when I was a teenager ( long time ago ).
The one of your Dad and Tiger being affectionate is cute and heartwarming.

Here's a few shots of Barney, our 6 month old half siamese lunatic, who spends small amounts of time sleeping inbetween sessions chasing around the house like an idiot, play fighting with Sorcha (see below) and climbing the curtains (grrrr).
And a bonus shot of my wife in bed !
And crashing out on me.
And finally, my favourite picture of Sorcha, our uber-sexy black oriental.

Oooooooooh yes !! Barney (see post 135) has a serious love of all bags and boxes of any description. They can be empty or full, it doesn't matter, he has a strong desire to get into them ! Often very cute indeed !
-
Boxes with our two :D
(http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f301/jonesy76/BrettonHall2006103.jpg)
-
ah yes boxes too... alos one of mine has a strange habit of hiding things in my shoes!!
-
Oh yes, mine loves bags and boxes too. She jumps in, sits in or takes stuff out.
-
Same here. Even a shoe box was made into a nest.We bought one of those special cat tunnels, the collapsible ones, and Cleo loves it.
-
This is Tigger - a local stray that seems to have adopted me(probably because I'm daft enough to feed him)
He's a big bruiser of a cat and causes some fights - he looks like a nightclub bouncer - no neck!
He seems quite relaxed
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/felineguitars/P1050097.jpg)

You wouldn't want to wind him up, that's for sure !!

I like her anyway
-
You do like a red amp, don't you Wez?
(It looks like she's in a washing machine!)
-
yep, gotta be red so i can sneak it into my living room
that cat does get into the washing machine. she also tried chasing cars when we let her out. she is an indoor cat now

Aaaw - a 'special needs' cat , all the more reason to look well after her . :)
-
I do like Wez's cat's - very cute. My cats are all indoors cats and could probably qualify for special needs.
This is Cally with a very bushy tail. It's unbelievable how big it gets.

Here are our three Maine Coons - Oltomaine Longjohn Silver is the Silver Tabby (LJ RIP) - Oltomaine SirHenry Morgan is the Black Smoke and white (Henry) - Purdystone Maramaduke is the Red Tabby (Duke)
They are very big and very soft
We lost LJ just over a year ago he had a bowell tumour and went very poorly on the treatment and had to be put to sleep. /cry
-
Uh sorry for Mr Long John!
nice cats! :)
-
maine coons are very, very beautiful... what a nice tryptic you had on that sofa!
sorry for LJ... this is the worst thing about cats (and pets in general), when they get ill they are cured with medieval standards... :(
-
THose Maine Coons look lovely. They are looking much more sociable than most cats in that picture. is that the case ? or was it a lucky shot ?
I've not owned a Maine Coon but part of what I love about Siamese is there great sociability with each other. Nothing better than a "cat pile " of lovely meezers !!
-
I've always loved the look of Maine Coons and what I know of their personality
Do they moult a lot?
My girlfriend's persian makes it her duty to cover the world in a mist of fine grey hair
-
I have been talking about getting a maine coonf or a while. Just because i have two small cats and i think it would be fun to have one that is 3 times the size
-
I have two maine coons (actually one of them is part maine coon). One is surprisingly small and light and the other is a bit of a beast but a big softy. They do moult quite a bit and due to their long hair sometimes get poo stuck to them! They are lovely cats though and have good temperaments.
Like yours Bradock - I'm trying to not let my partner see your pics as she has always wanted a silver tabby.
-
just about to go off camping in the rain. which meant i had the camera and torch in my hands at the same time :)

 Cats are great aren't they! Why is it that most of the time they act like they are superior and then go and ruin the image with stuff like this!
-
Its funny because this one is really very timid most of the time.. but just the sound of keys jangling (i used to have a torch on my keys), or the torch being wound up send her crazy and she forgets all the stuff she is normally scared of
the bigger one is just a constant idiot, but not too fussed by the torch at all. She will be the one that a few people here have met, the other one stays out the way
-
I must admit that I can't remember which one I met! Very cute whichever one it was!
-
the big one

The silver tabby is the one that died we had a fantastic level of cancer treatment for him and we could have sent him to an oncology specialist center but that was about 40 miles away at our local vet we got to see him every night. Even if he had lived longer at the hospital he would not have been happy.
They have different personalities but they are all big friendly cats they will generally be around you rather than in your face. LJ was the lap cat of the three - LJ and Henry are brothers and they used to curl up a lot together, Duke and Henry do so less. They do socialise really well and generally get on. We got them becuase I had always liked Maine Coons and when we lost our black moggie Toddy I read up on them and it could have been a description of Tod and that settled it. They would often be all three on that sofa especially in the morning when my wife got up Henry and Duke still join her on the sofa every morning. Henry comes to get me for a brush with his Blue brush (which is like a silicone groomer) he like to take you for a walk up and down and round the house. Duke is greedy and like his tummy rubbed. LJ liked to curl up in my wifes lap and loved fleece.
They sleep in the oddest positions rolled over and twisted on their backs and as long as you groom them regularly they don't shed much as they are a semi long hair.
We used to show ours and both LJ and Henry are premiers and Duke won a kitten class at the supreme but they got to not liking it so we stopped.
-
I'm just about to adopt two cats... Will take a couple of weeks as one of them was beaten/bitten by a dog and need more recovering, but he was very very cute.
I went to the place were have many cats to adoption and he was on a corner, alone, was his first day there... After I saw all cats I spoted him and went to talk with him, them he laid on my belly, with the head on my chest and start sleeping when I was cudling him... very "ohhh cute" moment...
Here is he:
The other I haven't decided yet, was going to adopt one of there gray/blue cats, but it's almost adopted now, so will have to choose other and there are many, so hard choice...
Cheers! Go Thrednomancy!
-
He looks really cute Fernando. Mrs 38th & I went to a local cat centre today- not to adopt ( as we have three already) but to show support and spend money. Trouble is, you go there and see a cute little cat and start thinking " maybe just one more" but we have to be firm.

I had been working recently in the workshop (it was a bit chilly in the house/workshop) and I left the halogen lamp on over the bench while I went to get lunch and came back to find Tigger sunbathing beneath it.
He was intent on staying there - unless I could offer him a warmer spot, so I had to go and put the radiator on in the office and carry him through and let him sleep on the office chair.
-
That's a great picture. Reminds me so much of my old cat Marmite (RIP).

Cheers mate. He started walking last night (bit behind when he should as he broke his leg last month). I'm being a very proud dad today.
-
The white is male and the grey-white is female, their name on the shelter are Dumbledore and Jasmim (Jasmine), I'm planning in change it, but haven't decide yet...
Today the placed was packed with people and some cats were changed of room, so all cats were a bit tense... Last saturday Dumble slept in my belly (it's like a King Size bed to him, I guess). Today he just wanted to stay in a window, quiet... Jasmim is a bit shy, but today she allowed me to pass my hand on her, but was a bit scared...
I'll try to have them delivered home next saturday, but Dumble has fungus infection and is still bad because of the bites of dog, so perhaps will take a bit longer :(

They're here for 24h now... Lets say that many thing happened, but now Yasmin (soon "Fräulin Brümelein") is now less nervous and believing I'm not going to eat her... Mr Dumbledore (soon Chucrute and Herr Totenkopf) is not accepting the change well, he refuses to accept he is not the only cat in the house... If he doesn't start accepting I'll have to change him for another cat....
I know, I feel horrible about: he is nervous with cat and you would let him back to a place with MANY cats? Sucks, but Yasmin is 4-5month old and has to play when I'm away working... Believe, this problems makes me really sad, you won't believe how much...
She doesn't like to wait for the pic, he is on the Dish dryier on kitchen and doesn't want to come close to us... This pic of him is on 1st hour of them here, Yasmin was on the back of a forniture hiding... When she came off, he start getting away :(
-
Congrats with your cat's nando! They're gorgeous!

My family has always loved animals, so I'll post some pics of all our animals.
I know this is a CAT-topic, but I might aswell post these here as well. There's some pics of my cats at the bottom of this post.

THE uncle sam! This is the king of the castle! seriously! I'd die for this cat!

i was playing fetch for HOURS with my mates cat last night.
Its a Burmese. If you threw a tiny ball of silver foil for it, it would chase it, bring it back, and drop it at your feet.
I've never heard of cats doing stuff like that.
-
My step mother was breeding persians and burmeses a couple of years ago. At one point, we had 13 persians and 8 burmeses at the most.
Burmeses are lovely cats, and I've experienced the same thing as you did many times. They are playful and loving creatures! :)
-
he has two. the Burmese and another that (i don't know breeds) but looks like a very common black cat you see all over. that one wasn't interested in playing fetch at all. it wasn't really interest in anyone.
I've known 3 Burmese and they seem great. really intelligent and gentle.

Hi Fernando- I'd say give him time to settle - Mrs 38th & I have two cats that were very nervous ( one hid for a week after we got her) and it took about 6 months before she would come near me.
As for The Norwegian Guy, nice equestrian diversion ( lovely horses) and great cats too!
-
Thanks! I can see now the start of the change on the road... untill yesterday nightfall they were fearing each other, but I'm feeling now like they are changing, that is awesome!
-
Oh, I'd just like to point out that when I said it took 6 months before she came near me, I was referring to the cat ( Millie) and not Mrs 38th. Mrs 38th only took 3 months.

Stop giving me CAS!
If my cats haven't died in the week and a half time they're here, you can make them good
-
I am officially jealous of that cat!
Looks like my other cat who passed away last year :(
-
Sorry to ear that. :(
I hope mine does not get bumped in by a car or shot by my neighbour (silly old man that want and needs issues through whole neighbourhood, maybe he just needs company of a cat :p).
I was much more into dogs at time but I just can't see myself having one. I'm finding them too boring as cats are funny as hell, jumping everywhere and playing hours with just some easy stuff. If I'm tossing a lil corner of a sheet of paper mine jumps around et moves it with crazy moves.
Only thing I hate to do is the vaccination. I have to maintain him on that table till this stupid (excuse me but he is) doctor comes with his needles. Each time he needs to inject it twice but he never prepares both needles. I had to keep my cat for 10 mins on that table with my hand on the neck until that guy comes back with the 'holy' needle.
Then the doctor told me to let go, as the cat would naturally go back in his box. He touched gently his head and all of sudden my lil tiger wrapped around his arm and bit his hand....I just thought of that as I have to take him to the pet doctor next week.

I'm about to get a 3rd cat - a small girl like Yasmin... Mr Chucrute (Sauerkraut) is a very gentle cat that have suffered lots of beating and bullying thru his life and even him being twice size of the little girl, he gets afraid when she wants to play fight...
So, they were almost getting cool with new house and big friend, then Yasmin start playing like a normal 5 month cat does and he start to feel not so right (IMO - very few experience).
Think this will help to keep him in his Garfield style alone and let them play a lot... Hopefully it'll work :)
-
So, I'm not sure how to say... not even sure what is going on and what should I do...
But talking with the girls from NGO and we kinda get into a decision that I'm letting the poor kittens back there... Kinda like I didn't adapt myself to them and therefore they didn't to me...
Feeling like the son-of-a-bitch $%ing them

Anyone here got a dog while owning a cat? How did that cat react?
My cat seems pretty lonely and im thinking about getting a small dog so he has some company
:D
-
Our two cats bully our dobie.
-
I once had 3 cats and one dog. Cats first and then introduced the puppy and she learned to respect them and they all got along well. She grew bigger and more powerful ( she was a well brought up Staffie- before they became Chav badges of courage) and she and one of the cats were best mates.
-
My cat threw one of the neighbours cats off the shed roof yesterday. You don't mess with my cat
-
Years ago my I heard my cat meowing really loudly at night and looked outside through the bedroom window. It was there in the middle of the road walking up to a fully grown fox. I was just about to run outside before it got eaten when I realised the Fox looked a bit worried. The cat got within about 3 ft, stopped meowing and sat down after sniffing the air. The fox turned and ran off. The cat looked a bit gutted, like it just wanted someone to hang out with.

There's a cat taking on a crocodile on youtube.
