Hi all,
I have a patrick eggle berlin which im thinking of changing the pickups. I stress the thinking it purely hypothetical for the moment till I get some money. The guitar is mahogany with a maple cap one volume one tone coil tapped and 3 way switch. At the moment there is a pearly gates at bridge and a alcino 2 at the neck. What sort of pickups would you think would work well in this type of guitar. Im after somthing that would maybe manage Queens of the stone age, Down, Sabath, Hendrix to name a few.
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for replies I will try and have a listen to some clips in the players section.

Some sort of P90 or the crawler sounds like a pretty good suggestion, though the Hendrix reference may make things a little more more interesting.
Possibly the Crawler along with some parallel switching (inner or outer coils) for fenderish tones give you the flexability.
I would suggest speaking to Tim though as has been said before Berlins are quite bright (esp the maple necked ones), and you may have to go for slightly darker than normal pickups. Tim & his magic elves can deal with that though

I have Mules in my Berlin 24 fret hard tail and they sound amazing through my Marshall TSL, I don't have a coil split as I cover the single coil sounds with a Strat style guitar. If you want more output I would go for the Crawlers, you don't say if your Berlin is a 22 or 24 fret, trem or hard tail.

Hi,
Well pointed out its a 24 fret hardtail. If I could get pickups that covers queens of the stonge age and sabbath I would be happy. If with a coil tap it gets me close to hendrix tone I would be all the happier. Its not essential though I have a few tele's that may get somewhere close anyway.
Thanks for the replys cheers
