Hi guys,
I am debating on whether I should re-valve my peavey valveking head.
I don't use it that much now, but it'd be nice to have it incase my current amp breaks or whatever, or i need a spare amp.
I was thinking of putting EL84s in it, and perhaps EL34s to power it?
My knowledge of valves isn't great, so I may have just made no sense whatsoever. But what I reckon my main point i'm trying to say, is that is it worth me re valving it? Will it make a considerable difference? I don't mind paying 100 quid or so and getting a much nicer amp, although if the difference will only be slight, there isn't much point, as it wasn't an expensive amp at all really, which was why I was thinking that replacing the valves may make a large difference.
If anyone can shine some light, i'd appreciate it.
Cheers,
Ben.

i dont think its worth spending that much money on an amp like a valve king.

Unless one or more of your valves are knackered, then you won't notice a huge difference.
if it was me, I wouldn't throw money at a Valve King, but save it for something else. It sounds like the VK is still a serviceable backup, in case your main amp goes down.

been there done that and i can tell you it would be alot better if you spend your cash on a new speaker. what speaker is up to you but be sure to match the ohm.

Well I don't use the VK cab, I have a Marshall I use.
And ok, it seems it won't make much difference, so I won't bother. :)

You would be putting 12AX7/ECC83 in for the preamp and EL34s for the power amp
Hope that helps

A new speaker will make much, much more difference.
Get a G12T in there to brighten and tighten it.

I already have in my marshall cab... :)
