Title: Update: The order process - OK, pickups arrived! Now, one more question.
Post by: Zaned on November 05, 2008, 04:49:20 PM
Hi,

I ordered my pickup set three weeks ago, it was the first time I used BKP online shop.

I got an e-mail with subject 'Order process', and it contained the order number and of course contents of the order.

Now the question is: should I expect another e-mail when my pickups are mailed? Or do they just arrive here someday? I just want to know what to expect NEXT :) An e-mail or pickups.

I used my finnish dealer last time, but this was not a regular set so I was adviced to use the online shop.

Thanks for the info!

I've ordered all mine from the online shop. You only get the one email to acknowledge the order - the pickups arrive unannounced.

I'm in the UK, I've had as quick as 3 days, and as long as just under 2 weeks, but I've always ordered standard sets.

If you're worried, give them a call or send an email - they'll let you know what's happening :D

Thanks for the reply :) That's the answer I was hoping for!

I knew there would be a wait, but they're worth it. I'd rather wait than buy something right away and regret it later.

The last sentence doesn't mean that the waiting part is easy though!

if it has been 3 weeks i would recommend phoning the workshop up or emailing Tim just to be on the safe side to see when it was dispatched as i am sure they should have been there sooner then 3 weeks. This is depending on what you ordered exactly.

I've emailed you the findings of the track and trace of your order. We shipped 2 days after receipt of your order but it seems that the postal service in Finland has tried to deliver and has left a card.

Hi,

yeah I got your reply and yeah, the pickups are here in Finland! The tracking number also worked on the finnish postal service website.

Phew, a close call. I called our postal service and they hold the shipments for two FULL weeks when the order has arrived in the destination. This is the second week :) I don't know where the hell that card they left has gone...well, probably slipped somewhere in my other mail.

Many thanks for the fast reply on the e-mail, Tim!

I now have the pickups!

Now, to identifying the pickups :D It's a set of 3 single coils. As far as I can tell, they're not identified.
I got access to a multimeter so I checked the ohm readings.

6.24, 5.59, 5.60 (about).  The first one is easily identified as the bridge pickup..but the question is, is there a way to identify neck and middle pickups? The middle pickup is not RWRP, so does it matter anyway? My guess is no, but it doesn't hurt to ask :)

Thanks!

EDIT: typos. And it's a calibrated set, not a mix'n match.

There will be a bridge and neck sticker on the back of the pickups, if not the bridge will be the one DCing higher and if its a stock set it does not matter which way around the neck and middle goes :)
