Title: Blackheart Killer Ant
Post by: kellar on November 07, 2008, 11:54:24 AM
I know there has been some discussion about the Little Giant, but has anyone tried out the 1 watt Killer Ant? It seems the perfect apartment tube amp. Every other 5 watt amp that I have tried has been too loud. I have been looking for something suitable after going through a few tube amps because they were too loud for my current situation. The question is, does it sound good? (119 euros on Thomann.de)

Can't help, but I hope you get some replies as it certainly looks interesting.

I can't help wondering if it's like the Epi VJ and needs some heavy modding to get the best from it.

My thoughts were the same PhillyQ. I also shudder at the fact that they are made by Crate. :(
Still, very interested. :D

It does sound like it could be worth a closer look/listen.

I have checked out the youtube reviews as well. Sounds pretty nice.

Don't be put off by Crate - I have a modded Little Giant, and it's not half bad.

Mark.

There's that "M" word again, though...

... ahh.  That's true.

Still, if the bare bones are there, a decent amp tech should be able to something pretty cool for a little cash.  And they're pretty cheap.
