Title: Nailbombs compared to Warpigs...
Post by: Minty on September 28, 2005, 10:53:04 AM
Greetings y'all!

I asked this question in another thread, but i thought i would make my own thread and stop hijacking the other one!

I should be ordering my Nailbomb tonight! :D

But just a few last questions, wouldn't want ot make the wrong choice!...

Would the Nailbomb clearer and more defined than the Warpig and the stock Gibson humbucker in an SG?

And do Nailbombs do scooped metal-y tones aswell? I've heard they are focused more on the mids?

I'm mainly looking for a tone similar to that of the Rise Against song located here...

Cheers!  :drink:

Nailbomb.....there's a fair amount of mid detail in that tone and the Nailbomb has a similar aggression

And it'll be way clearer than the GIbson 'bucker too!

I seem to remember Tim saying that nailbombs can sound muddy in SGs because the nailbombs bass + mahogony goes a bit overboard?

He seemed to think it was aborderline case though.

Sweet

Personally i would of thought the Warpig might of been TOO heavy for my style?

I've played a feline Gothic with Nailbombs - very powerful and no mud, I've never played a Nailbomb'd SG.....so maybe I'm wrong??? :?:

Well if Nailbombs mud out with all the Mahogany, is it the same case with Les Pauls aswell? Seeing as LP's are muddier to start with!

I have a mahogany bodied Ibanez and there is no mud to be found.

I have been following your quest for a straight answer closely. It seems to me that you wont be happy untill you have a Nailbomb loaded guitar. The sound you want is from a guy and his Nailbomb SG..right, so just do it. Chances are it will sound fantastic and if it doesn't you are buying a pick up from a company who will swap with one more to your suiting..I think this is cake and eat it time.
I have also made up my mind and I will now be going for the WarPigs.
I will wait with anticipation to see how you get on.
Good luck dude. :D

cr@p GUYS
With all this Nailbomb TALKING, ahahaha now i´m considering buying one too
the fact is: i have 3 guitars.
but one of those 3 i´ll sell. so, let´s not count with this one.
my main guitar is this one ->http://www.fotolog.net/demonaxes/?photo_id=10367950

with 0.11 dadario and tuned to D. I PLAY Death and black metal with this one.  i´ll not trade, or sell this guitar. so, it´s really my main guitar.
basswood body(i believe, or poplar. but i guess it´s basswood.)
maple neck and rosewood fingerboard.
i decided to go with a Miracle Man on the bridge, and, if i really like, i´ll throw in another BK pickup in the neck, BUT NOt until i test a warpig and a nailbomb in the bridge to see which one i´ll like more.
(i plan to buy both warpig and nailbomb for the other guitars)

ahahahaha now i´m undecided again
but i guess i´ll go with the miracle man.

Nailbomb = Old school metal. Think early Sepultura. Fuller mid range with more organic, slightly vintage tone.

Miracle man = Classic high gain. Think Zakk and Dime. Smooth mids tight bass and and plenty of high end.

Warpig = Modern metal. Super saturated gain with massive bass response, mid range grind and plenty of bite!

Cheers Steve! :D

Would you say either the Warpig or Nailbomb is comparable to (sorry to be blasphemous) EMG's?  Like, Metallica style tones?

The Warpig would be more comparable to an EMG. Nailbombs don’t have enough saturated gain on tap!
