Title: What would be a sensible price?
Post by: Simon D on November 15, 2008, 08:12:30 PM
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of selling my Mesa Express 5:50 head, but I have very little idea what would be a sensible price to ask for it. It's 5 months old, and in very good condition having had only light home use, and I have the manual, covers, footswitch etc.
Could anyone give me an idea of what it's realistically worth, so I don't waste time pricing it to high, or lose a stack of cash pricing it too cheap?
Thanks, Si

PS - Mods - feel free to move this if I've posted it in the wrong place.

Can I suggest £50?

What's your PayPal account?  Quick, before anyone else gets on...

Now now gents, lets not have any unsightly bickering!

Sadly though, I think £50 might be a tad on the low side.  :)

Ahh yes Mr. Bump, all it takes is an amp to get in the way of a little good old holiday spirit.

About £1100 new, which is what I paid. I probably wouldn't be ebaying it, unless I use a friend's account, but definitely a private sale. I'm not ultra desparate to sell, but I would like to move it on in the next few months I suppose.

ok... i'm not too well up on selling, but generally if i'm buying second-hand, i try to get it for around the 50% mark- if you sell it at that, it'd probably move pretty quickly. if you're willing to hold out a bit longer, you could maybe get around 70-80%, which, if you're not desperate to move it immediately, it's probably worth holding out for.

as always, depends if there's someone who just wants it, you can never predict things perfectly. considering the credit crunch, it might not be the best time to sell either...

Due to my "problem" I have sold many nearly new amps over the last year. I reckon on getting about 65-70% of new price (selling on ebay anyway).

That's quite encouraging, I'd be happy enough with 65 to 70% of the purchase price. Cheers for that mate.
