Title: How much does it cost to post a 4x12/4x10?
Post by: Adam.M on November 16, 2008, 12:53:58 AM
Simple question really, got something I'm looking at buying but it's cash on collection, thus pickup only.

It's in London and I'm in Leeds, and I'm considering getting the coach/train down there and just giving the 4x10 to the local post office to send to me, and taking the head home by hand.

Though I've just realized that this may require... big box's... hmm.

Damn it, i wish i drove, i really really really (really really) really (really) really really want this!

Maybe finding someone with a van/large car would be a better option, and giving them some cash for troubles...?

Yowza !  Expensive man, I think.

If you can get a 4x10 packed, and weighing below 30Kg, then it won't cost that much, but it will all depend on that final weight. A 4x12 will always weigh more than 30Kg, and therefore jump into expensive shipping rate territory.

I suspect your best option is to somehow get a vehicle to borrow/hire for the day.

Hmm, turns out it's only just over 19kg's per cab!

Would it NEED to be boxed if i got a courier to collect it? it is a big box on its own after all... and has not casters...

Doubt royal mail would do it like that though! hmm...

Yeah, I received a head like that. A couple of rings of gaffer tape around it to hold in place.
Also my head came wrapped in cling film :P

By Royal Mail?! hmm!

If this is so, i could easily just go down there with some mega-bubble wrap and tape, and just get in a taxi to the local post office and send it up to myself. Easy and sorted!
