What albums do you guys think haven't got a bad song on them?
For me:
NOLA
The Ultimate Sin
Badlands S/T
Sabbath Vol 4
-
Leftfield - Leftism
-
Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii
-
First 4 Metallica albums
-
appetite for destruction and blizzard of Oz for me
-
Nofx - Punk in Drublic
Helloween - Keeper of the seven keys: Part II
Gamma Ray - Somewhere out in space + Land of the Free + No world order.
Iron Maiden - Dance of Death.
Painkiller - Judas Priest
-
appetite for destruction...
That's what entered my head when I saw the thread title!
-
Metallica - Black Album
AC/DC - Powerage, Highway To Hell, Back In Black and Black Ice
Brian Setzer '68 Comeback Special - Ignition
Elvis Presley - Sun Sessions
-
extreme- pornograffitti
-
The Ultimate Sin - Ozzy. Didn't think I liked it that much, but recommending songs to a mate, all that album was included :?
Note to self, think about it and add more, there are so many more, mindblank
-
few bands manage this:
kraftwerk - trans europe express, man machine, computer world
black sabbath - black sabbath, paranoid, master of reality, sabbath bloody sabbath, sabotage
daft punk - discovery
sex pistols - never mind the bollocks
(not keen on volume 4)
-
Alter Bridge - Blackbird and One Day Rmains
Chevelle - Wonder whats Next
Tool - Lateralus
Deftones - Around the Fur
Just some I can think of that nobody's mentioned yet :D
-
Pearl jam's Ten and VS come to mind. Not a shabby song in there at all. I'll keep my mouth shut on Appetite for Destruction though...
-
UFO - strangers in the night
Kiss - Alive
Dokken - Under Lock and Key
Scorpions - Blackout
Great White - Once Bitten
Guns and Roses - Appetite
Aerosmith - Toys in the attic & Rocks
Queen - Sheer Heart attack, Night at the opera, Day at the races, News of the World, Jazz
MSG - First two albums
Van Halen - first album & 1984
-
GnR - Appetite for Destruction
Blink 182 - Enema of the State (will be unpopular here but its awesome, so $%&# off  )
Fugazi - 13 Songs
Indian Summer - Science 1994 Discography
Opeth - Still Life
RATM - self titled
Hey Mercedes - Everynight Fireworks
I'd like to say UFO - Strangers in the Night, but its tainted by the awful Love to Love, Out in the Street and Cherry :x
-
appetite for destruction...
That's what entered my head when I saw the thread title!
First thing that popped into my head too  . But in fact after 20-odd years I am starting to get a little sick of it...
To be honest, I could probably name a hundred albums for this thread. When I really like an album I tend to like all all the tracks, unless there's an absolute stinker that sticks out like a sore thumb.
Having said that, it's quite easy to look at some of the albums people have already mentioned and think of odd tracks I don't like! :)
-
Vinyl, or CD..?
I only ask because Gary Moores Wild Frontier album (on vinyl) doesn't have a bad track, whereas the CD has "Crying In The Shadows", possibly the worst GM song ever...
Mark.

Good point, a lot of reissue CDs have those bonus live tracks, demos or B sides. I suppose they give extra value for money, but sometimes you get to the end of an album where the tracks have all been carefully placed in sequence to create a mood... then bang, suddenly you get hit with a hamfisted cover version of Long Tall Sally or something....
I wouldn't say bonus tracks "count" in terms of spoiling an otherwise perfect album, though.
-
i'd have to say, and mainly because they're some of my favorites i suppose...
iced earth- burnt offerings, something wicked this way comes
weezer- blue album
megadeth- peace sells but who's buying
pantera- cowboys from hell, vulgar display of power
ozzy- diary of a madman, blizzard of ozz
jag panzer- ample destruction
-
GNR - Appetite.
Slayer - Reign in Blood
New Model Army - Thunder and Consolation
Steve Earle - Copperhead Road
Justin Sullivan - Navigating by the Stars
KMFDM - Angst
Hanoi Rocks - Back to Mystery City
-
Heres another good one I forgot, Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash :)
-
Machine Head - The Blackening
-
Machine Head - The Blackening
really? i've heard two songs by them, both of which i believe is off that album... beautiful mourning (i think) and aesthetics of hate. i really like them but wasn't sure how the rest of the stuff was.
-
Machine Head - The Blackening
eh? I didn't think there were any songs on it at all, let alone good ones & certainly not all good ones.
The Blackening reminded me a lot of Dark Angel's "Time does not heal" - lots & lots & LOTS of riffs/ideas, many of them great, but thrown together in fairly disparate fashion to produce a bunch of 7+ minute tracks that kinda blended into one after a while. JMO, YMMV etc...
-
Opeth - Still Life
+1
I like MAYH more, but Still Life is a masterpiece from start to finish....
-
Obituary - The End Complete
Rush - Moving Pictures
Once you think about it, it's actually quite difficult to think of an album that has absolutely no duds or fillers. My first thought was a few Maiden albums, but even in their prime there was at least one less-than-stellar track on every album (i.e. Gangland, Quest for Fire, Losfer Words, Deja Vu).
-
Sublime - Sublime / 40 Oz. To Freedom
Operation Ivy - Energy
Led Zeppelin - IV
Jimi Hendrix - Blues
Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies
Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien
Protest The Hero - Fortress / Kezia
I could probably think of more and some of mine have already been listed! I'm having a hard time coming up with newer albums though. There's a lot of new stuff I absolutely love but not the complete album.
-

I don't think a filler is neccesarily a dud. I often found with some that the fillers between two hit singles are often quite an interesting journey between the two.
Another one I think is Def Leppard - Pyromania. woud like to put Hysteria (I am never in the mood for both Love bites and Rocket at the same time) and Adrenalize (make love like a man), but they are close.
Trying to think of more again
-
Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
Not a guitar players album really but there's something about those melodies and lyrics that does something funny to me.
-
Heres another good one I forgot, Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash :)
Agreed! I listened to that every day for months when it first came out. :)

I would say High and Dry comes close - although No No No is a bit iffy
I do think Pyromania is tops though - dont know how I missed that one
I think Hysteria was a lot weaker - too many tracks that just dont do it for me
-
Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors
Q and Not U - No Kill No Beep Beep
Two Gallants - The Throes
-
Faith No More - King For A day, Fool For A Lifetime
Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today
Anaal Nathrakh - Domine Non Es Dignus
Napalm Death - The Code Is Red, Long Live The Code
Steve Earle - Guitar Town
John Hiatt - Perfectly Good Guitar
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - And No More Shall We Part
Bob Marley and The Wailers - Exodus
Toots and The Maytals - Monkey Man
Probably quite a few more if I have a proper think...
-
Thin Lizzy : Jailbreak
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band : Next
Robin Trower : Bridge Of Sighs
Be-Bop Deluxe : Live In The Air Age.
( there must be more ) ...
-

I thought that the musicianship that went into the Blackening was phenomenal, and the long songs (just about every track) only seem to last about 3-4 mins or so to me even though there are a couple of songs on that album that are over 10 minutes long. Robbs vocals blow me away on 'A Farewell to Arms' and 'Now I Lay Thee Down' as well.
-
All I can hear on the Blackening is Robb Flynn screaming "We've been shit since More Things Change" at the top of his lungs.
-
QOTSA - Rated R. Perfect chonging album
-
After a quick scan through Itunes:
3 Doors Down - The Better Life / Away from the Sun
Within Temptation - Silent Force / The Heart of Everything
Winger - Pull (no I'm not kidding)
Tool - Lateralus
Survivor - Premonition (old school AOR)
Rainbow - Rising
Queensr˙che - The Warning / Rage for Order / Operation: Mindcrime / Empire (they really, really f**king rocked, all went to pieces when DeGarmo left however)
Paradise Lost - One Second
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
Live - Throwing Copper / The Distance to Here
Journey - Escape
Gary Numan - Pure
The Donnas - Gold Medal
Dokken - Under Lock and Key / Back for the Attack
Dio - Holy Diver
The Cult - Sonic Temple
Corrosion of Conformity - America's Volume Dealer
Clutch - Blast Tyrant / Robot Hive/Exodus
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
AC/DC - Highway to Hell / Back in Black
-
Protest The Hero - Fortress / Kezia
+1.
But also:
Meshuggah - Obzen, Chaosphere
Sikth - Death of a Dead day/Trees are dead and dried out... Wait for something wild
Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity/Miss Machine/Ire works
Fellsilent - The Hidden Words
Testament - Formation of Damnation
Guthrie Govan - Erotic Cakes
Cynic - Traced in Air
Paul Gilbert - Silence Followed by a Deafening Roar
Mnemic - The Audio injected soul/Mechanical Spin Phenomena
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Machine Head - The Blackening
Dave Matthews Band - Busted Stuff/Before these Crowded Streets
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Jamiroquai - Dynamite
Incubus - Morning View
In Flames - Clayman
Fear Factory - Demanufacture
Everytime I die - Gutter Phenomenon
Dresden Dolls - Dresden Dolls (I think it deserves a mention even though I think Gravity sucks, but that's only one song so surely)
Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory
Capdown - Civil Disobedients
And yes that's alot, and yes I really do believe that every song on every album above is good.
-
The Black Keys - Rubber Factory
-
Winger - Pull (no I'm not kidding)
I know you're not kidding, bloody great album! At the time it sounded like they were trying to "go grunge" (to a very small extent, of course), but it stands up really well today. :D
I like most of the rest of your list too, but I'd include nearly all the Clutch albums and for COC I'd go with Deliverance and maybe Wiseblood rather than America's Volume Dealer.

It's a fair point, COC and Clutch are almost flawlessly awesome. I actually only discovered Clutch when they were supporting COC. I go out of my way now to catch them whenever they come over here.

Well I'll go ahead and say there are NO good songs on it, as they're all power metal tripe :)

-
Rush - Permanent Waves
Enuff Z'Nuff - Strength
Tesla - The Great Radio Controversy
...class
-
I personally am I fan of Rush's Moving Pictures.
Also, in may have already been said, but AC/DC - Back in Black is possibly the one album I loved when I was 14 and still do just as much now. Black Sabbaths Sabbath bloody Sabbath nearly does it for me if it wasn't for the odd song...
One you won't have heard of which I love is War Babies - self titled. awesome.
-
I just realised....
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound.
Anyone disagree?

Just read a review of this in Classic Rock. Never heard it but very good by all accounts - I may well give it a listen.

Too subjective to bother with.

Oh come on Ben! Play along! :D

Hahah that's just what I was thinking!!
Roo
-
SRV - Texas Flood (surprised no-one has mentioned it!). Also In Step/ Couldn't Stand the Weather.
Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe/You & Me
Squeeze - Argy Bargy ( Tilbrook such an underrated player/singer, awesome live)
Aynsley Lister - Upside Down (Really not a bad song on AL's latest, looking forward to forthcoming album)
Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous
Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks
Led Zeppelin - II/IV
Jeff Healey - Hell to Pay (my introduction to Jeff, somehow missed See the Light. I felt numb for days when he died)
Gary Moore - Sill Got the Blues (Think I wore it out at the time, then kind of went off it a bit)
All I can think of for now, tried to include a few not suggested before

Genesis - Selling England by the Pound.

Haven't heard them for about 20 years, but I think my favourite early Genesis albums were Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme.
-
Whoever said all the foo fighters albums is a muppet. The Colour and the Shape and the self titled are flawless, the rest have filler tracks galore.
My current non skipper is Aerogramme's My Heart Has A Wish You Would Not Go. Fantastic album from my favorite band.
-
Irish Tour 74 - Rory Gallagher
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Bob Dylans greatest hits 67
Dark Side of The Moon - Pink Floyd
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Pronounced Leh Nerd Skin Nerd - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Thats all i can think of atm.
-
I am afraid I agree with Ben ( and amazingly with Roo!)-but interesting to read what everyone thinks.
-
Too subjective to bother with.
Hahah that's just what I was thinking!!
Surely it's no different from listing top 10 albums or favourite players?
It's just opinions and it's interesting to read, no-one's expecting facts.
-
Judas Priest - Painkiller!?
