Hi yáll. What BKP's would give the Van Halen/"Eruption" and the Jake E. Lee/"Ultimate Sin" sound on an Ibanez 520 QS Quilted Maple top neck and bridge humbuckers. It could be a combination of different pups. Thanks a lot :)

I really like my VHII in an alder/maple PRS for a hint of early Eddie. So that's got my vote for teh bridge! :P

Thanks HJM :)

I think, to do both jobs, I'd look at the Holydiver...........I've spent quite a lot of time working on this one recently revoicing it and Steve Stevens has taken one out for a spin on the Billy Idol tour which he's liking very much.
What I've done is change from a ceramic to an Alnico V magnet and adjusted the wind to provide more power and a slight mid peak. This really helps it push through but it's not nasal or honky at all. It will definately give you the cut and power for both Eruption and Jake's Ultimate Sin tone.

Oh no - another humbucker with alnico magnets - and I still don't have a Black Dog set! I am running out of guitars with HB's - have to get more
I had heard the HolyDiver at LGS and much preferred the Miracle Man, but then again, I am more of the classic rock tones than the extreme stuff!. It is interesting to see that you are revoicing it. How is this pickup different to the 'Rebel Yell' that Steve Stevens is using too?

Dammit Tim...just after I'd ruled out the Holy Diver..........

I know what you mean Phil.
I've just orderd a Riff Raff Alnico V to pair with my Abraxas bridge. I have run out of Guitars as I now have a spare set of Humbuckers. But I'm the kind of person that likes to change things round, after a while.
I do hope to get a Gold Top to fill the void.
An SG 61 reissue would be nice, too.
Chris.

The revoicing is quite considerable, despite being totally happy myself with the original most players found it too clean so I've tweaked the wind and gone for the more organic tone of unpolished AV.
It's quite different to the Rebel Yell that Steve also is roadtesting, that one is hotter again and has a more pronounced mid that Steve's really keen on.
I've been jumping between two guitars loaded with each and love them both, they take you to different places.........Steve's adamant that they both have a place in 'stable' so that ought to tell you something 8)
