OMG! My band won a competition and we'll be playing two Unholy Alliance dates in Finland next week, with Slayer, Amon Amarth, Mastodon and Trivium! This is insane!!! We've been struggling without a drummer for 2 years, and now that we finally managed to put out a new EP, this happens. Pinch me, somebody! ;)
Too bad I don't have BKPs in my J-custom yet! ;)

You bar-steward!
I mean, thats fantastic! Have a great time. bar-steward.
Seriously though, thats awesome.
be sure to punch heafy square in the jaw for me :) Thanks
-
Well done! That does sound like something special.
MDV - Trivium don't do that bad considering their commercial nature? better than emo / indie. Although the song titles do seem to be progressing into battle metal

Well if youre gonna compare them to something so dire adjectives fail me, like, say, funeral for a friend or whatever, then yeah....but they still cant put a song together (though I will admit they have some raw technical ability)
Remember zf, this is very important - a defining moment of you career - snap your hip foward as youre about to make contact with heafys jaw so you drive through and get your full body weight into it, and good luck and best wishes! We're all rooting for you!
Oh, and the gig, too, knock em dead!!!!
(Especially heafy).

I read an article on Heafy a few months ago. I'm sure it mentioned he was a clean freak to the point of OCD. If this is the case you could always wipe some poo in his face. It wouldn't carry the same potential sentence as a punch in the jaw/ABH!
-
congratulations! that's pretty special. hope you have a good show, and a good time ;)
-
Forgot to add my congrats to my earlier post. So congratulations!! Would be good to have a world famous forum member!
-
Well done mate, I hope it goes amazingly well for you
-
Congratulations, put on the best show you can and rock the $% out!
-
Great stuff- knock 'em bandy!
-
Thanks guys, I'm sure we'll have a blast! Just more nervous about my playing than ever ;)
Oh and the Heafy thing, got it! ;)
-
excellent, congratulations. :)

Gratz bro! Nice score! :D
-
Awesome!! Good luck to you bro!

Thanks everybody! :)
I just came back from trying out an Engl Invader, since I finally want a decent amp of my own :) I've never actually owned a tube amp (gasp), just played through a Pod XT most of the time, and borrowed proper amps for some gigs... This purchase is easy to justify - even to the missus ;)
I really dug the Invader: I actually played through it for 20 minutes before I even noticed it had the lo/hi gain switch that affects all channels ;D And for example ch3 was great and chuggy even in the lo-gain mode. I played through my ESP ltd ec-1000, whose clean sounds I hate (due to the EMGs which I need to switch...), but they sounded pretty decent through the Engl! The MIDI capabilities are really nice. Just need to sort out some financial stuff and I'll probably go pick it up tomorrow...

Congratz! That's awsome news.
Phone Tim and get him to post you some emergency BK's :)
I hope it goes well!
oh, and 'pics or it didn't happen' applies here too...

Awesome news man!
I saw unholy alliance in October, was great. Mastodon and Slayer were amazing.
Trivium were just hilariously bad. They all wore their own t shirts, and they had EVH ramps all over the place.. Was embarassing.

Wow, had the time of my f-ing life! :)
Played two shows, one in Tampere and the other in Helsinki. 15 minutes only, so just the 3 first tracks off our new EP each night. Since we played soon after the doors opened, there wasn't that much people around, a couple of hundred people each night, a bit more in Helsinki.
Got to play my first gig both with the new J-custom and the Engl Invader. Sounded great on stage, had some positive comments about my clean tone from an audience member at least! No effects, just the guitar straight to the Invader into my Framus Dragon 4x12. Bought a Tech21 Midi Moose for the gig, and it worked great.
The tour crew gave us a superb treatment: full soundcheck, perfect monitoring (the best I've ever had!) They had some basic rules for us (no beer on stage, no feet on monitors) which made sense since some of the opening bands on this tour had trashed a 4000 USD monitor by playing the big rock star -role ;)
The local organizing wasn't as good. At the first show, we had a small dressing room, but in the second one in Helsinki, we didn't have anything! Nice to tune the guitars in a breezy hallway when it's +3c outside... But hey, who are we to complain :)
They actually promised us a small meet'n'greet with Slayer, but it didn't happen. I only saw Kerry King do a soundcheck from a distance on the second night, but didn't run into any of the Slayer guys apart from that. I did see Matt Heafy twice, exchanged a friendly 'hey' (sorry no punches, preferred playing the shows to getting kicked out ;) but that's about it. There was this one cool moment when I came off the stage on the first night and proceeded to pack my shitee up behind the stage. The other guitarist from Amon Amarth was warmin up by playing the opening riff to "Twilight of Thunder God" next to me. I told him it was a great riff, and that I had learned it myself the other day. He seemed like a jolly fellow, kinda quiet though.
Oh, and the other guitarist in our band struck a conversation with the guitar(?) tech from Mastodon before one of the shows. They talked about guitars and stuff for a while and then the guy asked tips for any strip joints in Helsinki, since this was the last day of the tour for them :P Also, during the last song in our set, when there's a clean guitar / clean vocal -> big chorus with growls -type of transition, our singer noticed that Brent from Mastodon was on the side of stage, with a kind of an approving / surprised look on his face ;) Anyways, since we had the same backstage passes as the roadies, and we were positioned on the opposite side of the venue from the big guys on both of the nights, our options on meeting the other bands on our own were kinda limited.
All in all, two nights to remember :) We have both the shows on video, have to try and put them on YouTube at some point.

Will you still speak with us when you're rich and famous and always have like 7 hot and willing teenagers asking for autographs or if they can help you with anything?

Thanks guys! :)
Heavier than Hell: thanks for the compliments! Glad you dig it :)
Perandor: if you want the CD, let me know (pm or mail me, jari at embreach.net) and we'll work something out! It's currently sold out only through this one web store, but they're closing shop and we're currently trying to find another place to sell the CD internationally.
