Post by: goddamn electric on November 18, 2008, 12:07:22 PM

Boss EQ20 - in the FX loop. Makes a PB into pure unadulterated awesomeness.

ISP Decimator - Perfect noise gate.

Ok, I'm done. Other things crop up from time to time, but those are the only ones that are really a staple for me.

I like overdrives :)
Have a delay arriving soon too, will comment on that later, but chorus is ok on clean sounds, phaser is ok if used rarely or on clean also. Hate wah's now, blame Kirk Hammet, Zakk, and Slash.
Reverb can be ok at times.
I agree with MDV, EQ's are very interesting to play around with, makes things so much more versatile.

Just don't use too many processing FX at once, Overdrive is the way forward! :P

My two most important pedals:

Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor,

Boss RE-20 space echo.

I would like to compare the TF to a Zvex Box Of Rock. I tried one on a vintage blonde bassman with a vintage 1960 Gretsch 6120. Great tone but that was also due to that amazing amp and even more amazing guitar.

My top two pedals:

* MXR Stereo Chorus - awesome lush chorus sound, love mine to bits
* Xotic BB Preamp - my perfect overdrive, warm and fat without any fizz, very natural sounding

Those two, a PRS McCarty and my Martamp 1/2 stack would be my 'bare essentials' rig.

I have a few pedals but am constantly wanting to change them around. Currently:

Fulltone OCD (may be for sale in seconds out soon althopugh open to offers now!)
Zvex Seek Wah II (for sale in seconds out if anyone wants to make me an offer!)
Boss DD3

I've kind of gone off the OCD as it only sounds really good at loud volume. I'm sure I could get similar bedroom level sounds from a Boss OD pedal - thoughts on this?!?!

I really want a chorus (may try the MXR out Dave!) and a good quality fuzz. I'm really into Frusciante stuff at the moment so this could be driving my need to change pedals. He's also not a delay user so this may have to go one day!

Bodenhamer Bloody Murder Overdrive. One of the best I've ever touched. It's as good as the Keeley TS9-dxflexi which costs over double what this cost me.

MXR 6 band EQ. Turns any amp I play through into a monster but also helps shape the tone in a way that I couldn't before.

Boss NS-2. Couldn't play live with out it. Never given me any trouble.

I would really like  to try a Hermidia ZenDrive or a Boss DM-2. I tried the boss delay before, but I was very young at the time and didn't know much about 'good tone'

I have a Boss CE-2 (jap, if that matters...) which sounds awsome.. i only wish it was in stereo.
a stock ibanez TS-9 - i can see why people get them modded.. its close to perfect.. but not quite there.. needs truebypass (i dont like the buffer in it) and just a bit more range in the overdrive.

I want a TC electronic Nova Delay.. i would get the Boss RE-20 but it isnt stereo (its dual mono) and i want something with a digital readout. the boss DD-20 would be ok, but i really wasnt blown away by it when i tried my housemates.

Colorsound Tone Bender fuzz

Roger Mayer Mongoose fuzz

Ibanez analog delay

BOSS RC-20 Loop Station

Lehle D.Loop

Other oft-used effects:

Custom HBE OD/boost/buffer, called the Twilight Drive

favourites with my marshalls:
thundertomate phil hilborne treble boost - amazing for single coils and vintage output humbuckers, not so good for anything else
mi audio crunch box - it has multi uses really, nice with bad amps and brighter sounding pickups - ceramics, fender coils etc
rc booster - really awesome booster, 2 band eq is nicely designed. its not quite what i want, but hard to describe how i would change it. the ac or bb models might be better for me, but i won't be taking a risk selling this without trying first
modded boss ge7 eq - great pedal, love using it as a booster, very low noise
korg pitch black tuner - nice and accurate, plus easy to use

live:
modded boss cs-3 compressor - it was pretty rubbish as stock, highly useable in modded form, gives back a bit of valve like sustain
sansamp gt2 - indespensible really
korg pitch black also

also good:
modded soundtank tubescreamer - i don't use it often, but it has the typical tubescreamer tone
arion stage tuner - cheap and reliable

it was good, but i'm pleased i switched from this to my modded boss, but i'm even more pleased you still like and use the mxr! your old miracle man is doing well this end :)

Joe's been through a tough time recently. He's going through a divorce right now on top of working very long hours and trying to clear his back log of orders. Message him again to remind him and I'm sure he'll be happy to let you know what's going on.

I've got a close friend of mine gasing for a MXR EQ too after I let him use mine for a rehearsal.

Oh I've been onto it a few times, so I'm up to speed with what's happening - and I've deliberately been quiet about this because of his circumstances, but I can't help feeling that my money has kind of gone, now. Every response for the past 4 months has been along the lines of "I'll be sending them out this week". It's now at the point that Wez has built me a custom guitar in the same time since I ordered the pedal.

I'm a patient person, but I must admit I'm very much losing patience now, mainly because communication is so awful.

I hope the pedal is worth it, I really do.

Here's a few thrown together. The Telnordia TA-100 is a nice boost,
