Can be anyone, living or dead, even other BKP forum members. My other thread gave me this idea as I thought about people on here I'd say "yes" to instantly if they took up my vocals offer, hehe...
So, you can take your pick of anyone through history, or indeed the future if there's some child prodigy somewhere who you know will be a legend.
For me it would be Mike Portnoy, as he seems fun to work with and you know he'd be a good guy, not demanding like some kind of "Diva" style artiste, heh.
Then probably Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, for pretty much the same reason as above. And you know there's a party after (and possibly during) every recording session, haha!
Jack Johnson - dunno why, just think it would be cool to sit and lay down some vocal harmonies with him and chill out.
Axl Rose - So I could try and "out-demad" or "out-diva" him. I hear Buckethead tried to do this by demanding he have a human-size chicken coop to record in. Can't remember exactly how that ended apart from that he quit GnR, lol.
From the forum: Defo Dez "Lepersmeesa" and "Nolly", cos I think these guys are Genius riffers, heh.
-
Kirk hammet, so I could hide his wah.
Matt heafy, so I could knock him out.
James hetfield, cos it would be awesome
Dallas toler wade (Nile), cos he seems cool and is one of the finest metal rhythm guitarists, if not the finest, on the planet
Paul Ryan (Origin) for the same reasons.
Aaron turner to kick back and layer some harmonies and huge buildups over a few joints.
Kerry king to block his trem
Rodrigo y gabriella, for a chill out break and to hit on gabriella
Malmsteen, but only cos I figure he must know some good places to eat.
Paul gilbert, cos he seems really cool AND hes an awesome player.
Tommy emanuel, to sit there and do nothing with my jaw in my lap, reconsidering whether or not I can really consider myself a guitarist at all.
-
Joe Perry...Cool man....wouldn't drink or do drugs around him
Dave Gilmore..could learn a lot and seems a nice guy..without being an arse(like Townsend)
Ronnie wood and Keith Richards..just because there so rock and roll
The Edge...just to blow up his Delay unit..and see what he really plays like
Angus and Malcome young...again so rock and roll..but would want to dig up Bon to join the jam
Mick Abrahams...great blues guitarist(Jethro Tulls original) met him once..selling cd's at his concert out of a an old brown suitcase, great charactor
Martin Barre..again Tull..great underated guitarist
Alex Liferson..genious guitarist..
All of early kansas(leftoverture line up) and Manfredd Mann's earth band (watch Line up)...prog rock dream with mad hammond backing....
Nickel Creek...for chilling out..but would have to improve greatly at my accoustic work
Serj and Malakian..from system...could be interesting..fun
Dave Grohl...love his music and think would be fun
Josh Homme and Nick oliveri....interesting genious-es ..but more than a little mad
-
For me it would be Slash.
Just because he was the guy that made me want to play the electric guitar.
-
Rick Astley
Girls Aloud (minus the ginger one)

really good question! its probably better to say a few.
of course there a more than a few electronic based musicians i'd love to work with (pendulum, the prodigy, kraftwerk, scooter)... but lets concentrate on geeeetar based musicians. naturally i'd like to work with a few friends of mine on musical things, and some BKP forum members for sure, maybe this will even happen relatively soon.
i can play most stuff i want to now - except for outlandish shred action. it only makes sense to work with people who are going to bring an extra musical dimension which you can't add yourself. for this reason i'd really like to work with a shred guitarist who doesn't have a problem with my sound and music style.
for famous players, i reckon uli jon roth and montalo would be pick of my bunch, but just to nab some of their moves mostly. i suppose i would prefer to be appearing on one of their tracks rather than them on mine though. maybe those two answers would be better suited to a different question - who do you want a celebrity guitar lesson from
vocalists: klaus meine, inspecta deck (wu tang clan), and cascada
perhaps even michael jackson, before he went strange
-
I'm guessing this ignores actual guitar skills - so..
Paul Gilbert,
And to be honest I've been sitting here for 15 minutes and I can't think of anyone else. Probably just with the guys in the bands I listen to, All Shall Perish, Unearth, Parkway Drive, etc.
And anyone on the forum.

BOOTSY COLLINS!

Larry Carlton for me ! :D
Not only would I learn a lot that would help me develop - but he also gently encourages his band members to express their own voice, often leaving big gaps in the song for others to fill whilst he stops to listen. He has reinstated subtle comping / rhythm playing to a fine art and remains a true ensemble player . He also has the reputation of being a really nice guy.
There is also the fact that although he is a sight reader, composer, arranger , keyboard player - and has been a scorching Jazz / Country / Blues / Rock player and top notch session man ; - he is now ( at 60 years old ) on that Zen like journey back to simplicity as exemplified by his tour with The Sapphire Blues Band. In addition to his own merits, you would also get the definitive relaying of what he learnt from Joe Pass and B.B.King as past mentors.
In second place, it would be Snowy White - for much the same reasons. This would have the additional value of being given the insight as to what a man often called upon by Pink Floyd / Dave Gilmour / Roger waters needs to know for the session.
Just the chaps to hang out with in my book ... 8)

Seems like Buckethead had the same feeling, between now and making that post I just discovered that they've started a band together!

Just about anyone really, anything that got me playing with some decent musicians.
Girls Aloud (minus the ginger one)
hahaha everyone hates the ginger one, I dont think shes that bad :P
-
Aww bless her, I actually think she's the best of the bunch. She doesn't seem to be one of those loud-mouthed, brash bimbos that the rest of them seem to be. Plus, redhead... I guess I just like redheads, hehe.
-
Jake E Lee - Guitar God
Phil Anselmo - Beast and definite all day bakery
Abbott brothers - Beasts
Ray Gillen - Pipes

richard wright

Jeff Beck,
Clapton, the 60's version.
John Lennon.
Joe Walsh and The James Gang.
Nile Rogers.
John Entwhistle.
JJ Burnell and Dave Greenfield.
Topper Headon.
Charlie Benante.
Robert Plant.
Afghan Dave and Mr 38th!
And a stage full of mega fit chicks in rubber nurses outfits dancing 'round their handbags.
Edit Steely Dan and all their guitarists they used like Skunk Baxter and Larry Carleton. This band have some of the best grooves ever. Some of their stuff is the most sampled stuff ever so I understand it.
-
John Entwistle...nice
-
Salma Hayek.
-
OK, Rush.
Because (a) they're awesome and (b) they seem like people I could get on with.
Don't know what the hell I'd be doing though. Making the tea and emptying the bins? :?

I do like the sound of some of their tour activities. Learning to roller skate and taking part in radio controlled races - sounds geeky and right up my street!

Jenna Jameson

Whats so wrong with the ginger one out of girls aloud...?
The rest look very boring...
-
I am flattered Johnny! Just back from a gig- knackered and too tired to think of who I would choose.
-

Someone who agrees, thank you! :D If I had to choose out of all of them, it'd be the redhead. The rest just look like the kind of slags you get pouring out of the roughest, cheap, nasty nightclubs in town.
-
My choice would most certainly, 100%, be Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan.
-
God. 8)

Angus Young
Brian Setzer
Jim Heath

You mean Lemmy.

For me the list could go on all night but being very brief I will restrict to players that have meant something to me over the years:
Ronnie Lane, John Lennon, George Harrison, Mick Taylor, Eric Clapton & Johnny Mac.
Like I say I could go on and mention Jimi, T Bone Walker and not forgetting Riley B King but I shall stop here.....oh and Peter Green and...

What about Satan too, he must know a few licks? It'd be a great stage show and look good on the posters.
-
Salma Hayek.
Do you think her and Penelope Cruz and her look similar or could be sisters Philly? Lovely looking woman. 8)
-
haha hmmm; alexander voronin best job lol
David Gilmour
Christoph Jaeger
John Du Cann
Mark Tremonti
Joe Bonamassa
-
Salma Hayek.

I don't think they look all that similar, but they both have that awesome dark hair/dark eyes Spanish look about them. Works for me! Penelope's just a wee bit too tall (he says, like he can afford to be picky...   ).
-
Frank Zappa - I don't need a reason for this
Keith Emerson - Oh yeah! Keith needs no introduction he can rip it up on his own.
Jimi Hendrix - Da master of the Stratocaster.
Rory Gallagher - Irish tour of '74
Andrew Latimer - Of Camel fame (very under rated guitarist)
-
For me, I think that it would be Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce - just jamming along with these guy would be awesome. I'd like to play with Stuart Copeland too - my fav drummer of all time, but I don't know who would complement him on bass... Sting is the obvious choice, but I'm not sure I'd want to jam with him, as such...
Actually, I think that you could add Jooles Holland into the mix too. That would be a jam! Me, Jooles, Ginger, Jack and Stuart!
-
for me .. Jeff Beck .. Prince, Bootsy, Lenny Kravitz ,buckethead
-
Nigel Tufnel - for those words of wisdom
-
Mikael Akerfeldt!!!

Have we ever discussed a preference for Women in Rubber and Boots or are you just psychic? PDT_022 PDT_003
Beck would scare me sh1tless - the combination of genuine regular bloke and TOTAL GENIUS... how can that happen?
My additions (in no order) and with me where appropriate playing Bass guitar =
- David Coverdale + Tommy Aldridge
- Rob Halford + Scott Travis
- Paul Stanley
- Adrian Smith
- Steve Harris
- David Lee Roth
+ The Big J Mac and his fully loaded Feline
Waiting back at my hotel (kept well away from David Lee Roth)...
