What exactly is the plating on BKP Tele neck pickup covers, chrome or nickel? The descriptions on the product pages sometimes say one, sometimes the other.
Even better, is it possible to specify?

Interesting question Philly - I think you might have to ask Tim and the boys...
I checked my Blackguard order confirmation email (July 2008) just now, and I picked "Neck Cover Nickel Plain", but the shop doesn't seem to offer that on the drop-down anymore. There's "Chrome Plain", "Gold Plain", and "Uncovered".
Obviously if you want Chrome or, horror, "Gold", Plain you won't have to ask... but if/when I get another set looks like I might need to.
Of course, it is always possible that mine are actually chrome because they don't do nickel and the drop-down was wrong when I ordered!!

Can you not tell by comparing with the rest of your Tele hardware? That'll all be chrome on the Baja (apart from the tuners, which are nickel).
Interesting what you said about the shop options, I didn't realise they'd changed. Maybe they were nickel before, but now they've switched to chrome?
Most of my Teles have all chrome parts, and one of the reasons I didn't get BKPs was that I thought they had nickel neck pickups. But I now have a bridge, control plate and knobs all in nickel which is pretty unusual. I thought that would be perfect with a BKP neck pickup but maybe they were really chrome all along!!
I know a lot of people can hardly tell the difference but I'm picky about these things....

My neck CB looks like chrome to me.

All this time I've been thinking they were nickel, and now that I want a nickel one it seems they're actually chrome!
Aaargh!!!! :gib:
Maybe it's because they're nickel-silver covers, but chrome plated....
I'll email BKP to double-check.

Probably you can ask for some sort of aging, that will look more like nickel

Sorry Philly, been really busy - I meant to check last night, but never got round to it
My humbuckers etc are nickel, and they're going nice colours on the bridge pickup where I rest my hand - not so sure the neck of a tele will be getting the same sort of exposure. But I'll compare it to the other tele which has the Baja's pickups now.
But unless it's started to tarnish, not sure I'll be able to tell the difference  - I reckon you need to ask BKP...

I got an email back from Tim (helpful as ever :D ):
we originally offered nickel but moved to chrome for authenticity.
But nickel covers are still available:
we make our own nickel covers - just put a note on the order in the comments box that you want nickel plate (in fact ours are solid nickel silver too).
Now I need to decide what set to get.... 8)

I thought that might be the answer... :D
I did check last night, and as predicted, I can't tell the difference! But my BKP box has got nickel ticked on it...
