Post by: Ian Price on November 27, 2008, 07:49:25 PM
I think this is pretty awful:

And very expensive!

I designed that years ago on my homework diary.

In my defense I was 13 and it didn't have an awful paintjob. Zakk has no excuse.

I have to be honest, I love the shape, but the price:spec ratio and the dean headstock are disgusting.

EDIT: I bet they have that disgusting dean V shape neck too.

I quite liked the original "muddy bullseye" Splittail that Dean did for Zakk. I however don't like the production splittails, and I think it's pretty low that Zakk went and put the guitar out under Gibson.

^ It was technically a Gibson design. They produced a few in the 80s I think, but dropped it pretty quick.

I do think its low that Zakk puts his name on about 15 signature guitars though

Vomit.

I'll probably regret making this statement, as people will suddenly produce loads of examples which prove me wrong, but.... straight lines and curves on guitar bodies don't mix.

(Edit: thought of one myself already... Dean Cadillac  .  I like that design.)

dean cadilliac works... take an explorer and an LP and it works... great stuff

now sometimes it requires more thought, and SG and V dont mix naturally... maybe with a little more design work it could go togther, but not how gibson have done it... its just lazy design

now take something like a fernandes ravelle (which i like a lot), its obviously les paul mixed with mockingbird.  its been obvious inspiration for me but without realising i managed to mix in a bit of iceman/explorer as well

I really like the Dean SG/Vee posted above and also really like the Dean headstock shape - looks mean as f*ck in black with the thin white pinstripe.

The Gibson ZV reminds me of the PC game 'Day of the tentacle' I used to play as a kid..
