It was the first gig for the mighty Doppelganger last night. Six months of rehearsal, and a bass player change, and we were ready. We rocked, they loved us, we're booked in for several dates at the same place in 2009 :)
A couple of pics for your amusement!
Martamp powered twin guitars were in full force: ( did someone say Phoenix Nights??? ;) )

As were BKP VHIIs in my Jackson Dinky:

My maple top McCarty photographs really well don't you think? (unlike me......)

A cracking night was had by all, can't wait for the next one!

Congrats Dave - did you use the tele?
-
'Fraid not mate, doesn't really work with 'Crazy Train', 'Bomber' and 'You Give Love A Bad Name'
I need 'buckers for all our stuff :)
-
Those pics look good Dave. Two Martamps eh! Some good guitar tone in your band then. :D Did you record the gig on mini disc out the mixer?
-
Oooh, gotta love that tinsel curtain!
Seriously though, well done chaps! :)
-
No recording, sorry. WIsh we had done though, it sounded great :(
And yes, the guitar tones weren't too shabby ;)
The curtain was awesome :D

Well, if you don't need it I'll take it!!
-
Believe me mate, I need it! Just not for gigs at the moment ;)
-
6 Months rehearsing for the first gig!!!
Jesus, I'd have quite forever ago.
-
We were ready to gig a few months back, but losing the bass player didn't help :( Andy's been in for two months and did a cracking job getting up to speed so quick on the 25 or so tracks we played.
Plus practice makes perfect ;)
-
Oh absolutely, it's just I've always done cover gigs to make a living, so it's been a priority to be up and running as quickly as possible. I've never rehearsed more than twice for a cover gig and I've done literally hundreds without a rehearsal at all.
Different folks approach these things in different ways I guess :)
-
Congratz mate! I hope after all that hard work you can keep up the momentum now!
-
Well done Dave.I hope 2009 means great success for you guys.
-
Nice one Dave !! ...... but who's the odd guy with the SG ?
-
Not a clue Alan! He knew a thing or two about amps though....
-
Nice one...
And you're right, the McCarty catches the light very nicely...
That curtain is a stunner though  (you didn't get a lot requests for "What's New Pussycat", "Delilah", "Green Green Grass", and so on, did you?)
-

-
We swap and change :)

Bomber would sound great on a tele!
'specially with a Blackguard Flat 50 in the bridge :D
-
It doesn't need BKPs - that Tele is perfect exactly as it is :D
-
Glad it went well that guitar looks lovely. Wish they would make some good resonable priced lefties.
When you got a list of gigs let me know and I will check one out.
-
Nice one Dave ! :D
It's really great to see the whole project come to fruition ( and so sucessfully ) after all your hard work - and wondering if you would find all the right musos at the outset.
( I see room in there for a keyboard player , in the form of Mrs T.F. just waiting to 'go bad' )
Keep up the good work ... 8)

Cheers Derek - it was great fun, and it can only get better!
Rock and Roll......

nice! Let us know if you're gigging around Cov./Leamington anytime, we'd support or just come watch if you want! :D
-
Did you have the lyrics pasted to the ceiling?
-
Nope, just the chords ;)
-
Look at the first pic, Martin has trainers made to look like Boss pedals- now thats rock and roll!
-
Good to see you are both up and running
What venue was it?

Thats PRS looks cool Dave - was this also from the eBay guy who does PRS's at a cheap price (can't remember his ID!)
-
Ian - cheers! I love that guitar, and it photographs so well! It came from Peach: www.peachideas.co.uk
Matt - the venue was the Queens Arms in New Mills :)
-
excellent! the flame shows up nicely on the PRS, too.
i'm guessing the scarf/tea-towel over the guitar stand is because of a nitro-finish?

Nah, that looks like a "between song sweat rag" to me
-
mental note: if i ever meet dave, don't ask to play that guitar. o_O

I've noticed that people really love their rock music around Stockport and out towards the peaks.
Some great rock pubs in the area

It's an 'end of set dry sweaty head rag' actually.... ;)

 I thought it looked familiar... I needed one between every song when I was gigging (and a complete dry set of clothes for after )

^ ^

So, erm... are you free on the 17th of october? still trying to sort out a decent band for my wedding!
-
Yep, we could do that! As long as you want rock music!
-
well i do... laura still needs some convincing! She wants a soul band which would be great but they tend to have a lot of members and then cost becomes an issue
