But sadly I can't play with it just yet as I'm cabless so I'll leave you with this guys review from Youtube and some pics of it. After watching the vid I'm itching to play with this thing
Not me: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uQjADxog0Es (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uQjADxog0Es)
It certainly gives the impression of being built VERY well!

Sounds good in the video but I suspect it doesn't do it justice. If it's anything like the artisan 30 I tried earlier this year it should be great. I really like these amps and, at the price, they are great value as well.

those pics are awesome! Play now! Even if you don't play metal, crank everything!!!

Their Artisan stuff is much higher end. This, though designed here, is built in Korea (seemingly very well). Hence a shade under £220 delivered. Could be an absolute bargain. Gonna cart it around to a mates tomorrow to give it a blast.
-
I believe the Artisans are made in Korea too...

:o Didn't know that, I assumed they were made here as they're quite a bit more moolah.
-
:o doesn't really show shock very well...
Even colon dash oh used in is bare ascii looks more shocked.
(http://toop.microsign.co.uk/fud/images/smiley_icons/shocked.gif) Now this one would be much more like it, with maybe an alternate of (http://toop.microsign.co.uk/fud/images/smiley_icons/25.gif) for shocked wonderment.
Maybe it's just me...

Are you a rock player? Blues? Jazz? Metal?
Get some recording going! :o
I wants clips! (in addition to that YouTube video)
-
All the Blackstar stuff is made in Korea but designed in the UK. A good idea for a mass produced amp if you want to keep costs down.

lol Other than the one at the top, it's all there is out there at the moment :(
I bought the thing based on the review, the spec and the price. Using the theory that if it sucked, I wouldn't lose too much selling it on. It was this or a Blackheart Killer Ant, and this seemed a hell of a lot more amp for not much more cash.
-
very nice! I'd like to try one of those, but i don't see that happening... :(
-
please tell me this amp can reach metal overdrive without the volume on 10. I am really considering one but from the clips i have heard so far it seems to have enough gain for rock but not enough for modern metal.
Failing to achieve modern metal gain levels, would it be at least enough to get there using a boost pedal like a maxon 808?

I'd really like to know this too, I think I'm getting some GAS
the combo is closed back isn't it?
-
I really cant decide... a GH100L that I've been offered would only be a little more than this thing really... can't decide...!
-
GH...You know you want to. :D
-
If i hadn't already got an amp recently i would so buy that.
Just for the cool factor as well as the sound. Did you get the cabs aswell?
-
Maan this looks soooo cute, really, I wanna hug it a bit now :D
-
I'd be really tempted by this if I didn't already have a Blackstar HT Dual and DistX. As far as I'm aware the pre-amp stage is pretty much the same as the HT Dual? They are great pedals and altough it is true that they stamp their own tone down pretty hard, it's a good tone, so who cares :)
Congratz on the purchase! I'm waiting for the Series One :) 8) :D
-
Looks very nice and well made. Look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Nah, Martin is making me a 1x12.

Why is it always 12"? 10" can sound absolutely amazing too... come on guitar land, evolution isn't that hard ;) we only ended up at 12" by accident anyway!
I have the funniest feeling this thing will sound its best with the Mini Stack option...

But, but, it's 2 bigger!

2x 1x12 I like your thinking! :D
-
I am really tempted by this, I have just noticed it has a headphone socket so I could replace my POD for home practise.
Do you think it would be loud enough to compete with a headcase drummer and loud 2nd guitarist through my Orange 2x12. I am not arsed about a decent clean sound

One word. No.

bugger :(

Just bought the combo version today! It's only £30 more than the head and I could plug it into a cab anyway if I wanted to. The staff reduced the price for the VAT drop too which was nice. The only problem is.... that it's still at the shop. Got it from Mor Music in York when I was visiting my gf. I had a busy day today so I said I'll come pick it up another day, which is probably gonna be 2 weeks time!! This is torture!
It's a great little amp for practicing and recording. It sounded a lot less "little" than other similar amps imo. I thought the ISF thing wasn't as drastic as I'd imagined but still an interesting tone shaping tool. I did have the mids set high and it's supposed to work best with mids down so maybe that's why. Imo it did the British tones better than American tones. It being a wee little combo, it couldn't help sounding a little bit boxy with the gain piled up, but for all intents and purposes I thought it performed very well. It has loads of gain btw, not death metal gain, but about on par with my Laney VH100R. I can't wait to try boosting it and put it through my 4x12. I agree with twinfan about the volume though. Even with a very efficient cab, I highly doubt it will keep up in a loud band context. The volume up full (with the inbuilt speaker) was about the same volume as my VH100R on 1.5 I'd say.
-
Well took it to a mates and plugged it into his Mesa Single Rectifier Combo's speaker and all I can say is that I'm more than pleased with it. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Great at sensible levels, loads of tone available, nice clean through to rock through to metal. Sure it's cleans and classic rock tone aren't as articulate (or as damn unforgiving of my ineptitude) as the Minimat was and it's broootalz are never going to come close to a proper big high gain metal amp. But it does a pretty decent stab at both at sensible levels more so than any other low wattage amp of it's type I've ever heard. Oddly I really like the ISF over to the US with scooped middage for winding the gain up, somewhere in the middle for crunchage and over to UK for cleans. It does work that dial, but you've got to mess with the EQ along with it really.
Overall I'm well chuffed and it's an absolute bargain IMO.
-
I bought one today. Through my 1x12 G12k-100 I can get some amazing tones out of this thing, It loves drop C so it's a doom machine at the moment . I'm gonna try it with my 2x12 tomorrow and see what goodness that brings.
Boosting it with my Bad monkey make it sound even better.

You'd need more like 50 watts to compete in a band I'd have thought.

It seems the HT5 virus is spreading.

It sounds sweet boosted, I finish college early tomorrow so I'll try chuck some clips up. It's so fat for a 5watt.

tried one today, there was no combo but they had the head setup with a valveking 4x12 (I think) played it with some active emgs since my plan was to boost it with a tubescreamer anyway, it did some nice metal chugging with the gain on about 3 o clock, I tend to not over do the gain for metal though so it might need a big boost if you use silly amounts of gain
I'm rather impressed with it and plan to buy one, so does the dsl owner who was playing it before me

Not sure about that, my 50w Laney never got to go above 2 when I was gigging with it :(

I don't fully know amps and gigging, but would it possibly depend on tubes and every other aspect in a gig? Room, speakers, positioning, etc.
I'm sure if I ever gigged I could use my 30W
And this might be a Christmas present for me so here's hoping!

I just threw some clips together, check em out, it's with my 2x12 with V30's. It's just doodling on the nailbomb'd SG and changing the gain, ISF and volume and kicking in the bad monkey every now and again, read the descriptions for more info.

Did you use the bad monkey in the High Gain one?

I did yeah, Volume and gain on the amp cranked, boosted with the bad monkey (Level at 10, gain at 0 and the Bass and treble at noon)

Depends on the band. I gig both a 35w JTM45 (louder than I need in Doppelganger, not enough for YC/DC) and a 90w JTM45/100 (about right for YC/DC).

update: that clip was so br00talz my computer crashed. Thanks baz

Me too! What I heard was good though :)
-
 Your computers are so un-krieg.
-
That sounds amazing, though sounds like you had to crank it fully to achieve that.
-
Yeah, that was just to show how much gain you can get with it as that's what most people are interested in. You can get some great high gain sounds with low volume too.
-

haha, at least it wasn't just me. :D

Anyone got an idea what the pros/cons are against the Tiny Terror? :?

the blackstar has an fx loop and the tiny terror doesn't
-
Anyone got an idea what the pros/cons are against the Tiny Terror? :?
From what i know, the blackstar has 2 channels, one clean and one dirty. Where the TT is just a Class A one channel amp.
And the effects loop as previously stated.
-
you also get the blackstar stack for the price of just the TT head!
-
But then the Tiny Terror is louder, and has a very different voicing.
-
Anyone got an idea what the pros/cons are against the Tiny Terror? :?
I love my TT, it's a great little rock amp, at 7/15 watts it can get very loud for room levels, but you'd not want to gig with it. Single channel, has a good crack at clean tones at TV levels, but it's not as clean as a clean channel.
I'be not played the Blackstar amp, but I have a Blackstar HT Dual which I belive is simlar to the pre amp of the HT5. The voicing is different so I'd say try both if you can.
I have to say, the HT5 seems more versatile, and probably represents better value for money, but the TT has cracking tone for a small amp, so give one a try!
-
Sounds like loads of fun, very well balanced that little sucker!
If I wouldn't have vowed to get no more amps, I'd get me one for xmas. It's so cute!!
