Hey guys.
I've finally managed to sort the tuning problems I was having with my Eggle Climaxe Guitar (it was the nut) and now I want to think about changing the pickups. It came with a pair of horrible Kent Armstrongs which quickly got changed out for the PRS Dragon pickups from my Custom 22 (when it got it's Abraxas pickups). The PRS are alot better than the KAs, but are still missing 'something' to my ears.
I'm looking to get out of my comfort zone (Vintage + Vintage Hot pickups) with this guitar. From what info I can gather the spec is:
Ash body
Anegree cap (according to the 1 and only magazine review I can find of this guitar)
Maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
Schaller fully floating Floyd Rose
Gotoh Locking Tuners
24 frets
I spoke to Tim and he suggested Holy Divers, Miracle Man, Painkillers or to really get me out there, a pair of War Pigs. I've also spoken to TO at length about this guitar and he suggested either Nailbombs (which I have in another guitar) or Miracle Man.
Just thought I'd get some sugegstions :)
Thanks

How does it sound now, and what would you change to get it 'right'?
That should narrow down the choice ;)

Right now it sounds bright (Ash body, Maple Neck and Floyd causing this I'd think). It's not that it doesn't sound good atm, the PRS Pickups are a hell of an upgrade from the KAs, but it's still not quite 'right' for some reason. It's a bit odd, I can't really explain it.
Guess I need to sit down and decide more what I 'want'

That would help!!!
If it's bright, you may need some fatness. HDs may be good?

I don't have anything specific tonewise inmind for it, just that I can afford to be a bit more 'adventurous' pickup wise with it :D

Anymore suggestions or opinions?

I take it you mean that Hot + Vintage Hot is out of your comfort zone (i.e. that Vintage is in your comfort zone)?
Holy Diver would be my first choice, followed by Painkillers. But that's my stock answer for pretty much anything :)

HDs or Crawlers.

Thanks for the posts guys.
I didn't word my original post too well, Vintage and Vintage Hot is my comfort zone (for the most part), so I'm looking more towards MMs, HDs etc.
Due to the Ash and maple, I think something like a HD may be better, as a MM may be a bit too cutting? :?

yeah, that'd be my concern with the MMs (though i haven't tried them in an ash superstrat)- they might be too far out of your comfort zone (maybe you want that, though). haven't tried the others, though. does depend on what you're after, of course.

The MMs aren't that far outside my comfort zone as I also have a Cold Sweat in an Ash strat and a pair of NBs with a Trilogy in my Ibanez S470. I think you all may be right with the suggestions of HDs to fatten it up a bit :)

oh, ok.
listen to the others, though, they've tried more of the BKPs than i have. :)
