Title: Egnater Tourmaster
Post by: Simon D on December 04, 2008, 09:23:14 PM
Does anyone have any experience with Egnater amps in general, or the Tourmaster in particular? I seem to remember Adam B buying an Egnater a while ago? I'm curious as to where you get them from, as there isn't a UK dealer/importer at the moment. If I were to buy one from, say a French website, would the plug and voltage be alright for the UK?

Apologies for all the  (probably quite daft) questions, but I'm quite taken with the idea of the Tourmaster - it might just be the amp solution I've been looking for.

Adam does. He has an Egnater 50. Haven't seen him around though. Aren't European plugs different to UK?

That's what I'm wondering about. Changing a plug is easy enough, assuming the voltage is ok, I think.

Are they not standard kettle lead with a voltage switch on the back?

european voltage should be the same (or close enough). it's the plug which is the problem, but if you use a kettle lead with the correct value of fuse, you should be ok.

but check with someone who knows for sure, lol. :)

You may also need to check and maybe change the fuse value if it still has the USA value one as the current draw will be different to use in UK & Europe.

There have been some teething troubles with the Tourmaster series from what I have heard - random indidences but others have been blown away

I am getting one of their modular preamps in the next few weeks - been on order for a while
But Adam has the USA made Mod 50

Have you asked about these issues here on the Egnater Forum

Yo!

Yeah i have an Egnater Mod 50! It's an amazing amp, but yeah, it's made by Bruce and Jeff in the USA, and costs quite a bit more than the tourmaster range, although they're still great amps :D

My Egnater has a voltage selector on the back, and you can can change the plug easily enough too. The best thing to do is post on the Egnater forum, ask if it has a voltage selector etc. Jeff will usually give you a answer pretty pronto, as with any other questions you might have

Get a Mod 50, or what Jonathan is getting, an M4!
