Shame about the Kahler too - and it's only a cheap Kahler Flyer
Looking at where that is being sold - I wonder if the seller is Mohinda (SAN ) Sharman
His brother Dave Sharman was quite a well known shred player
I have traded a few bits with him over the years

I love Hamer Scarab's - made one for a girlfriend about 12 years ago

Actually more interesting is something else that he is selling

A Floyd Rose that fits a Les Paul with no routing required
I also have one of these kicking about and they are as rare as hen's teeth

I don't even like shape guitars and I'm GASsing for that. Simply gorgeous work.

Yeah, I don't like it when Jonathan posts that particular image either ;) The black binding really sets it off.

The Les Paul floyd seems pretty interesting, and he has some other oddities for sale besides, like the tele trem and parametric eq.

I saw one of those in a magazine article about the history of Floyd Roses, I wonder why they never caught on?

Probably because you'd still need routing and/or drilling to get the locking nut installed - a floyd would be useless without the nut & if you're going to modify the guitar, why not go the whole hog & install a proper one?

They could just want a light pitch perfect vibrato rather than heavy whammy kind of effect, so the locking nut not neccesary? Chris Broderick does this I think.
Or locking tuners? Don't play floyded gutiars, been wondering if locking tuners would help at all

That seller often has interesting stuff, but I think his prices tend to be a bit ambitious (pot, kettle... ).

Never seen one of those Les Paul Floyds before, that's fascinating.  But doesn't it tend to wobble around a bit with just the big grub screws at the back to hold it in place?

You could use the Tonepros split studs to make it more secure
I did that for Will on his Gibson with a Kahler and it worked a treat

Yeah, I thought that was a good idea with the Kahler!    And I suppose the front of the Floyd bridge rests on the body (or the bushings for the tune-o-matic?), so as long as you're pushing down on the bar, not pulling up, it should be fairly stable.

Pretty much - as were most Floyds the way that they were originally installed without the rout underneath
That really only came about because of players like Vai

EVH always had his flat to the body
