Title: Reverb and High Gain

I have an Fender type Outboard Reverb.  Any reason I cant use it with a High Gain amp like the ENGL Powerball?

No reason whatsoever why you shouldn't use it with a high gain amp.

With high gain you don't need much reverb or it sounds weird

yeah, there's no reason not to try it (that i'm aware of), but, like johnny, i only use reverb on lower gain tones. generally you need all the tightness you can get when playing at high gain, and reverb kind of destroys that.

I wasnt going to use it full on but.....

I use reverb for leads with my high gain RM100 head, but that's mostly with really low output stacked singles driving it for high gain blues-rock lead tones, not for uber-fast widdling. You're not going to want to use reverb if articulation is at a premium or if you have loose pickups or a loose amp, and you generally wont want to use it for rhythm, because it'll sound terrible, imo. Still, it never hurts to try :)

^ I was gonna say just try it for leads, I only use it on 1-2. For rhythm it messes it up, except on cleans!

yeah, if you're only going to have it on 1 or 2 you might get away with it. just use your ears. :)
