Title: Wirings
Post by: CrzHrs on December 07, 2008, 05:04:19 PM
Waiting for my pieces of guitar to arrive, i decided to test my BK set on my jem.

The configuration is Hum-sin-Hum with 5 way switch. it works all fine but.. the position between bridge and middle sounds very weak, without any bass at all.

My question is, does Bk 4 conductors have the same colors than Di Marzio? after a search and due to my 1st attempt i did one-one on that scheme. all the other positions sounds fine but that is really weak.

BK's wiring code is in the FAQ section of the regular web site.

I am pretty sure that they are different to DiMarzio's codes.

It's like 20 minutes that i am searching dimarzio exact color meaning. i am pretty sure that white and black are reversed :)

Edit: help me to understand please:

Dimarzio

Red= + north pole   (aka screw coils)
black= - north pole

White= + south pole
Green= - south pole

BKp:

Black= + north pole (aka screw coils)
White= - north pole

Red= + south pole
Green= - south pole

Is it right?

(i got it  here http://www.1728.com/guitar.htm)

now is totally messed up, both split positions sounds like an old telephone :D

I think i'll wait january to bring all my components to my liuther :D

Edit, the screw coil, has to be next to middle coil or next to bridge/neck?

Looks like a puzzle  :shock:

screw coil is on the outside. It sounds like you have got something out of phase?

looks like so, gotta ask tim. i've ordered a nailbomb set and an irish tour middle rw/rp. it came with both humbuckers with 2 cables linked togheter, i had to split them up to get the 5 position possible. i can fix that turning both humbuckers upside down, with screws inside, but i dont know if coils are symmetric or not

If you can fix it by turning both of the humbuckers around, then swap the black and green wires around, and return the buckers so that the screws are on the outside.

The two that were soldered together were the coil tap options - simplifies things when they first arrive I guess (especially for people trying to follow the wrong wiring codes ;) )

Wow, it was a kind of pain (i think i had to take off strings and open my guitar like.. 8-9 times), but at last i got it. Those pickups are gorgeous!  PDT_003

Well done for getting it all sussed
It can be a very arduous process with a scratch plate guitar
It's not unusual for even a tech to have to take it all apart a few times - especially when mixing different brands of pickups
