Following on from the London thread, I've had a bit of an idea...
How about if I arrange a rehearsal room at my band's usual place in Manchester. We can hire a room for the day on a weekday or a Saturday, and I'll bring my collection of Martamps (plus my modded Klipp) and some of my guitars.
BKP forum buddies can come along, with their own guitars/amps/pedals, and we can chat/drink beer/try out each other's gear etc. This way, we all get to meet each other and try out Martamps/BKPs and anything else you want to bring along. For example, Wez could bring one or two of his guitars if he's attending.
If need be, I can get the beers in beforehand and everyone who comes chucks in a fiver or whatever.
Whaddaya reckon?

Sounds like a BKP NAMM Show.

Sounds like a plan to me. Any cheap recommended hotels up there?
-
Depending when it is i might be up for it... the will is certainly there its just whether there is a way or not!
Its actually easier for me to get london... or more importantly get back to burton on a sunday from london... better if someone from around this way is heading up and i can hitch a ride.... ;)

Manchester?
I've heard tell of the place, to be honest I thought it was just a myth.
Is it somewhere near Norwich?

Lots of reasonably priced hotels in and around Manchester I would think - Travel Lodges and the like. I can help out with finding somewhere if required :)
I take it you want me to bring *that* Tele, Ian? ;)

I'd either go up the M1 - M62, or up through Matlock/Buxton and then up through Stockport, so I may be able to either pick someone up etc if required :)
If beer/drink is involved, then I'd need a hotel too if anyone has any suggestions
-
Great idea Dave. Not sure im going to humiliate myself playing but would love to come and check out the amps pedals meet people and drink beer.
-
hmmm, wondering if i could get a bus or something to matlock and take you up on that offer??
-
Sounds good to me!
-
If it fell on a weekend when my pal's club night is also on or something, I'd be up for it.
Give's me more of a reason for the 4 hours on the train
-
It's sounding like a plan then!
How's sometime in February for everyone, say the last Saturday (28th)?
-
That's fine for me
-

If that was aimed at me then sure! :)

still not sure if i can make it or not yet though

Hi, I have a 1 in 4 chance I will not be able to make. I have a walking trip in Scotland one weekend in Febuary dont think it's that one but not certain. Im more than happy to chip in for cost then if I cant make it no one ends up with a big outlay.
Certainly hope to make it.
-
Count me in. Still trying to get funds for a Martamp so it will be great to try them!
-
Looking good guys, looking good. I'll await a few more committed folk before I make any firm plans...
-
fine for me, 2 days after metallica :)
-
I'm up for it if we can confirm a date...or have I missed it?
-
Read the thread dude ;)

Will check work..but think even if working take day off
-
i'll see what i can do about attending too, though i won't know 100% until alot nearer the date.
-
I'm definitely up for it - it will be a long drive for me though. Somewhere in the region of 200 miles!!
If anyone from the south (basingstoke, reading, southampton etc) fancies going along, needs a lift, doesn't mind chipping in a few quid for petrol and feels like they could listen to my god awful jokes/commentary on the state of todays society please let me know.
Might not be able to get much in the car other than a passenger and a few guitars as I have a mini (not the old model). I may be able to 'borrow' my partners car for the day depending on if anyone takes me up on the offer of a lift.
Cheers,
Ian.
PS I will probably want to go there and come back in the space of a day.
PPS Any jokes I make aren't really god awful!

This is looking good guys, looking good!
I'll speak to the rehearsal place next time I'm there (6th Jan) and see if I can get us booked in...
-
Sounds good to me - how many are gonna be there?
-
I'd be up for this, the cal. is clear on the 28th so far so should be a giggle. It's the beer bit that won me over. ;)
-
Are there any plans for the night on the get together on the 28th?
I think it's pretty much taken that we're meeting up with guitars and amps at Daves practice room (if possible atleast) but can't remember hearing anything being mentioned about the night time.
As regards gear being taken, I don't think I have any amps that anyone is specifically after trying out, but am more than willing to bring an amp along and any guitars that anyone may want to try out :)
-
I'm not thinking of planning anything for the evening, but if a few folks are stopping over somewhere then a beer somewhere may be a good idea??
-
I'm probably not going to be staying over in Manchester on the 28th. I will however be bringing some stuff with me for others to try out (probably the following:)
Guitars
1970s tele
'57 reissue strat with Apaches
Amp
Laney Lionheart
Pedals
Fulltone OCD
Cheers!
Ian.
-
Top stuff! I'm in the rehearsal place next Wednesday, so I'll speak to them about the 28th then :)
-
This might be possible... Would mean a drive from Glasgow to Manchester but i've been further in the past. I'll put a tentative maybe in there. Could bring some MQs and holydiver in a tele (i love my bar-steward two humbucker tele) and a load of home made pedals :D
-
Top stuff - as soon as I have a room confirmed, I'll start a new thread :)
-
Hiya Dave, :)
I've come in a bit late on this one - as I have been playing a semi-acoustic at unfeasably LOW volumes recently ; - am trying to introduce a bit more Jazz into my playing - and have tended to give up the booze . :o
However, subject to elderly cat care, I must try and get down though - and enjoy the event . You will have done a lot of organising, and meeting the gang like this will be as pleasurable as it may be rare.
I will be watching this thread for confirmation of times and places .
Cheers ! :D
-
if it's a saturday count me in, sunday can't do.
If i can i'll bring the super lead head and my prs.
-
If we're bringing stuff, I'll bring my CS tele to compare with Twinfan's. I'll put some pedals in the bag as well so we can have a play.
-
the night, TO JILLY'S!!!
