Title: Stocking Fillers (Not legs :0)
Post by: phlip on December 15, 2008, 09:52:44 AM
So then what small things have people asked for over xmas. Most guitar related purchases are too expensive to have as presents (unless you're really rich)

I've asked for a G7th Capo but what sub 30quid things are other people asking for?

Hercules wall hanger because I cant really risk knocking my Pearl off its stand again

I'm getting some Couch guitar straps for each of my guitars as well, £25 each so I guess it sort of fits the sub-30 quid thing :P

I've always found the cheapest shitetest batteries you can find are the best bet for battery-powered guitar gizmos. Decent batteries tend to drop a little in output as they die rather than just stop altogether, sometimes I ouldn't notice in soundcheck straight away ten you're into the gig wondering what just isn't right.

Obviously, just replacing everything every gig would have solved this straight off

I think that the wife is getting me an MI Audio Crunch Box...

OK, not exactly a cheap stocking filler, but if it turns up I'll be happy!!!

Mark.

Try those Lithium batteries... all I can say is I'll never go back, I used to get 2 maybe 3 gigs out of Duracell... 1 gig for standard betteries.. 7-10 gigs with Lithium. To be honest, the G2 unit tends to eat batteries, so I'll stick with them for that piece of kit.

Awesome pedal.... I love mine, it's like a hot rodded Marshall in a box through a clean valve amp!

I wouldn't mind that amPlug. Or another guitar, maybe more BKPs.
I don't really know. It doesn't usually work out if I want something or not anyways.

I have "You already have one!" parents which doesn't go well with playing guitar.

And agreed on the parents thing.

Confiscate their underwear, all knives apart from a butter knife, one shoe of each pair, oh - I would have so much fun.

Something I would want, well I would like a new PSU for my pedals, I think the JohnnyShredFreak site that TwinFan suggested looks good.

My Father doesn't know what Christmas is, apart from the pub shutting earlier :P

Hey fellas, we're not all "you already have one" parents you know!

To all you kids (and dads) I hope you all get some cool stuff this christmas! Me... I still want more lithium batteries though

Personally, I don't see why I can't have some nice legs in those stockings...

But I have just ordered myself two "stocking fillers":

1. A set of brass saddles to replace the replacements that were on the second hand Fender Japan 52 reissue tele I got a few months back...
2. Another set of Blackguard Flat 50s to go in the same geetar...

These will definitely fit in my stocking, but I'll be (very pleasantly) surprised if they arrive in time!

Also my main pressie from the missus would probably fit in the stocking (one of they BOSS Micro-BR recording thingies).

I spose the brass saddles fit the price-range for "stocking filler", but like someone else said earlier, most of the things we guitarists want are a bit expensive for main presents, let alone stocking fillers!

Apparently they're poor bollocks. I never accept anything mini cause it's just "Let's take some good stuff out and sell it like that!"

But if bad tidings go for you, you can return the thing and I'll have a BOSS BR600 waiting for you :P

No worries, I don't have high expectations - just a glorified (multitracking) audio notebook for fiddling with ideas and jamming with meself...

Real recording gets done on the PC - it's just that I can never be bothered to relearn how to work it, sort out arrangements, write the drum parts, etc, etc, etc... Every know and again I get going, and for a whole weekend's work I manage to get a click track and guide bass/git/keys down, known of which are good enough to keep, and by the time I get back to it the next weekend, I've lost all interest in the idea in the first place! So basically I never do anything :(

The premise for this was "is there any toy, related to music, that I can get you for around £150?" - aha! one of them BOSS recording toys that will work in the garden, on the toilet, etc... and will definitely not let me over-think the recording process...

If it wasn't a pressie, and we weren't stumped for any other ideas (she wouldn't stretch to the £2K Elmerald Lion!), then I wouldn't even have considered a BR600, let alone this thing :D

If thats exactly what you expect from it then I think you;ll be very happy. I love mine as a pick it up record riff dead easy. It's a nice little unit once you get used to the UI.  :D

Wow! I ordered the BKPs yesterday morning, they're here already! I really wasn't expecting that - many thanks BKP-men :D

Assuming the saddles arrive (they're in the post), they won't be in the stocking, they'll be in the bluddy geetar by the end of the weekend...
