Title: Voodoo Child MM Bridge With Backing Track!
Post by: Johnny Mac on October 01, 2005, 06:58:24 PM
Hi lads,

I've manged to use Cu-Base to record with a backing track at long last!

I used the Voodoo Child Backing track that Bird posted here a while back. Thanks Bird! It's also on the CD that came with Total Guitar this month.

I used the Miracle Man in the Bridge on my Charvel Model 6 through a Koch Powertone II amp and an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah. I used the direct out on a Koch Loadbox into a E-MU 1820 sound card.

I played the basic riffs but improvised the rest as there's no vocals, so you have to keep it sort of interesting!

I'm quite pleased with this one :)

I love playing along to this backing track, most Total Guitar ones are really good. Great clip, I want a wah dammit

Hey man, really tones your getting from the koch and the mm! Really nice smooth sound, the wah doesnt sound too harsh. I might have to try out the weeping demon!

Cool clip.

Thanks lads!

Those weeping Demons are so versatile. You have the Q control like some of the new Dunlop ones. Plus you can use it like a Morley or a Dunlop. It has a low setting to that really resonates everything in your house! Especially if you have no neighbours like me and turn it up as loud as you want!

Great sound you are getting there, almost like a single coil driven tone.  I liked the sound a lot.  Nice playing too.

Jimi would have wished he had that much gain at his disposal. This what the song sounds like if Zakk played it.

That weeping demon shure sounds ace.

Whats the bypass like on em? I kinda want one even though they look so ugly, they seem really good though.

Thanks Bird!

Tom, the bypass is good. It's better then my old crybaby. It sounds a lot better too and with having the lever to switch to a morley sprung loaded style or the cybaby style is really good. I think it looks wicked!

No it's all bomb proof metal. It's quite heavy.

ah right. Think I'll get me one! Can it be adjusted/tweaked to get a more vintage/warm sound, like the hendrix voodoo chile, and tom morello wah sounds?

Cheers! (sorry for going OT!)

Bit of fun there John by the sounds of it. You'll have to do it again after dropping your IPod-cheer yourself up a bit.

I've got a Free Bird backing track. It's a big one to record though. One bum note and it's buggered! 12 minutes of playing, mostly soloing. I could try and raise the bar for myself and learn it though. Lot's of practise for me for a few weeks on that one I reckon! I wanted to do the whole of Miracle Man. I've got the riffs sorted now, it's the solo I don't know how the hell you play that fast and fly around the neck. Mabey next year, I've been trying out each day but it doesn't get any better!

That's more like it. Sounds much more lively and more of the feel of the original even though it's a totally different tone.

Just listened to the Hendrix version again and it's still amazing even after all these years.

Thanks Gary, JP :)

I took your advise Gary and cranked up the gain a bit more!
The original is a great Hendrix song. I love it!

Check out miracle man strutt for a clean tone. It's not really a clean pick up to be honest.
