i really want to try one of these.. luckily the matamp factory is in Huddersfield :)
ill have to take my pedalboard and my tele up.
1 channel 2x12 combo.. does anyone know any alternatives? with at least 30w output... orange all seem to be twin chan now or low powered...

im not really a fan of marshall.. lol i should have said that first, i just didnt really consider them.. although the bluesbreaker may be worth looking at. the jcm def isnt what im looking for tho.
the Hiwatt might be worth a look to, thanks.

id get the speakers switched out for greenbacks, but i dont see why, matamps sound a lot different to marshalls.

I love Matamps. My Orange is pretty much a Matamp, apparently. Just dirtier, with more coffee cup rings...

This amp really surprised me as I'm used to a GT120. This amp does NOT have this sound. The prototype is currently sounding too bright hence I had to wind all the top off to avoid taking my head off! (factory aware and working on revisions.) Loads and loads of volume - not an amp really designed to use at home! Lots of high harmonics. Bass control currently not doing very much - I remember the 800 being like this also. Great for classic rock without a pedal. Didn't try it with pedals but guess tubescreamer/MXR dist+/Dod overdrive etc. would be interesting. Vintage 30s sounding great - I'm not normally a fan but they definitely worked in this set up.

I've discussed this amp with one of it's creators Howard (matamp employee) for sometime, I've obviously been sworn to secrecy and not said anything about this to another soul but it's deffinatly long over due imho.
Howard told me how he thought the Matamp range could benefit from a good 50w combo thats giggable and nods back to 70s british rock tone..
Some interesting design features im told harks back to plexi/jcm terratory but thats all I know and even that is speculation :)
i'll definately be down in huddersfield sometime soon to try one.

I love the legends on the knobs; very cool look. The cabinet looks a bit deep, too, which may be a pain if you're trying to carry it by the handle!
Looks like a really cool amp.

I tried that amp last time i was at Matamp, very Marshally it is... it's what i wish my old JCM800 would've sounded like. It was over bright, but it's still a prototype, and that brightness was easilly dialed out. The V30's had been replaced with Hot100's too. It a great sounding 1 sound amp, no switching etc. so limiting for the gigger. The best sound i found was with the master and gain both at half way. If they did it with a working FX loop and a the preamp gain switchable in a head format i'd be tempted!
There was talk of having 2 handles on the top at either side. It was easy to move, but if it had the V30's i think it may have been a bit too much weight for that single handle
