Title: First gig with new Band:
Post by: noodleplugerine on December 17, 2008, 12:16:14 PM
Went pretty good :D

Sort of battle of the bands type thing, we came 2nd and are through to the next round :)
Played a solid set, good turnout, and the tone was lovely thanks to the marshall JVMs provided haha!

I'm the one with the Horizon :)

And the plug, please ignore the absolutely god-awful recordings haha...

oooh, those horizons are nice. a friend has one. one of the best necks i played on. shame it's clear coated. oiled or a satin finish would be MUCH nicer.

i hope i can get back on stage soon. though i doubt that it'll be before summer :S

Cheers! :)

And yeah Davey, it's superb, nicest guitar I've ever played, and it just so happens I own it, which is damn lucky :D

And really, the clearcoat does not get in the way at all for me, its not at all sticky or anything else which is attributed to finished necks, its absolutely lurvely, infact, I think a satin finish would make it less smooth if anything. ESP necks are definitely the best of any big brand, imo, they're hundreds of times more comfortable than a certain other brand's horrendously popular necks...

I think my next guitar will be an ESP Eclipse, that way I only need a Mirage and a Forest and then I have the whole lot :)

My favourite thing about those photos is Nigel Tufnell.

In the 2nd photo down the other guitarist looks like the male singer from Guitar Hero 3!

Nice looking ESP too!  :D

i dont think a good satin finish would make it less smooth, but yeah.. those necks are indeed very nice. i havent played any other companies high end guitars (that are in the same metal vein) so i cannot say.
all i know is, i love the neck on my dk2m :D

I'm the one with the Horizon :)

Sorry to be ignorant, I don't know what a "Horizon" is. I'm guessing you're the player with the blue guitar and the mean look ?

Congrats on the good gig BTW.  What songs did you play ?

I really think as far as production guitars go, a proper ESP is really where its at. Tom Andersond/Suhr/Vigier etc are also amazing, but for the money, I feel the ESPs just sound and play amazing, while having great playability. I think their neck profiles, and fretboard radiuses, fingerboard widths etc, are all just perfect. Really top notch company imo, (bare in mind I'm not defending LTD here, only ESP, though the LTD 1000 series are superb guitars imo).

I'm fwightened

:D Love you too bro

ESP Horizon, as linked by Antag :)

The songs we played were all our own, half of which written by me, other half written by the other guitarist, and other other half written in combination haha.

Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, London.
