Title: Late but not withholded!!! NGD & NAD
Post by: FernandoDuarte on December 18, 2008, 02:02:56 AM
Sorry for the lateness, the amp is at least 1 month here in home, the guitar has been "completed" (still need to have the nut improved a little and glue, also check the wiring, not 100% working)

Well, the amp is a Plexi 1987 MkII clone, but with 30w... Has a 1/10 cut power switch (live in apartment), the 2x12" is loaded with Eminence Private Jack speakers... Due I had no money at the time and find speakers in Brazil is HELL (most abroad companies doesn't sell them to here, as I found when I've tried buy 2 Celestions Alnico Blue), I was wishing Celestions... The other difference is a PPIMV master volume, what I don't have idea what it is, but Martin of Martamp said here this thing it has better tone than the original Marshall M.T., so I went to ask Pedrone (the builder of this amp) and he told: "Yes, I'm already doing that way" :D

The guitar is the finished Warmoth "Nonsense Tele"
Alder body with Spalted Maple top, fatback Wenge neck with Macassar Ebony fingerboard and headstock veneer, BKP Piledriver, Glendale bridge, Gotoh vintage kluson style locking tuners...
The neck with 1" thickness and the strings about 2mm above the frets are making a hard stand playing, in the first impression, will keep on it for a while, if the idea keep intact, will sand the neck to 24,5mm or 24mm, fat and tone, but a little more confortable...
Need to low the big E a little (I've made the nut) and end the wiring, it's pretty weird now...
But sounding good (only played once with the amp... fear of it)
Ah when I was going to put the string ferrules on back I hit too strong on the first one

I'll take both! Very nice GASing.

Weird that the Tele has such a huge control routing, would've thought they'd do the same size as a regular T style control plate.

Bet they sound killer together, have fun with them.

The tele looks great (don't listen to Roo).

Am I reading that right, you can scale the amp back to 3 watts? If so that's pretty cool if it keeps most of it charcteristics.

Good work that man!

nice one Fernando. COngrats !!

It feels very strange seeing a NMV Marshall clone with the inputs on the left. Your guy at Pedrone, obviously likes to have his own style !
The filter cap arrangement is also pretty "unique" - I suspect down to availability of parts in SOuth America - he's done a good job though !

Looking good Fernando :D

This is definitely a thread for Roo, you've managed to get a tele and The Beatles into it, nice one

I took all the books in front of it, but that one... ;)

I've no clue of it, I'm a disaster for electronic, but yes, I believe any "unusual" thing on wiring is due you can't find most things here and we pay 98% of importation duty... The guy is one of the best amp builders here on my country!

Thanks for all the kind words guys! :D

Very nice.

Are those slides atop the head, or a multi-part crack pipe? PDT_008

Love the Tele!   :D

Nice choice of pickups and hardware.   I did wonder if that fatback neck would be a bit too much.

With the normal high on the strings above the frets, not that much, but as I'm putting a little more distance it's kind... but as I said, haven't had the time to play it much, perhaps playing it for a while it becomes ok

Warmoth do all rear routed guitars with that control route...
Having a hard time, never played with a tube amp before...

Yes, I can get 3 watts... hope I can play it at 30w and compare... in my apartment, no way... Old build, thin walls :?

As I'm not a real good player and don't have any record stuff, I'll try to have a friend recording it... will take a little while as it's end of the year and he lives in São Paulo, probably will be there in the first half of January :D

Well you know what I'm thinking - but in the old saying of "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all", I do want to compliment you on that lovely spalt top! :)
Hope you enjoy the amp, too! :)

Congrats man, this looks like a great rig!!

I heard lots of good things about eminence speakers, so I'm sure they'll be great once they're broken in.

Now you need a real loud band so you can rock out and make those tubes cook!!

There's nothing like getting a new guitar and amp...

They look great, Fernando.  Love the idea of the 1/10 power swich.

Just to share information!
Had been a hell to make the wiring of the 4 way switch on the Tele, tried with the luthier friend of me and today about 6h with my dad (30+ electronic technitian), so we find out this: the same problem with the potentiometer... The thickness of the wood from the top to the control cavity is big, so needs the potentiometers that Warmoth sell and the 4 way switch will need a little enlargment on the hole, the edges were bloking the switch to make full contact on one side of switch...

Will make it tomorrow and tell how it ended...
cheers!

I had the same problem when I put a 4-way on my Thinline, I had to make the slot in the scratchplate longer.  The switch seems to have more "travel" than a normal 3-way or 5-way.  Presumably it's not an issue with the normal Tele control plate, because it's thinner.

Yes, did it today, about 1mm for each side or a little more in the "bridge position" side...

It's working fine now, but the switch knob wasn't on place and it looks a little like "working on edge" perhap will have to put the strat type...
