Tim, I know you answer questions here on the board so here goes... I've got a SG jr with a P90 bridge pickup. I want something much hotter with out going for a full-size 'bucker. Could you make a Warpig in a P90 size?
-
Man that'd be killer, very Iommi-esque. 8)
-
Don't see why not. :D
I've done it before-we could even distress up a chrome dogear cover for the 'look' too.
-
Have you got a picture of a previous one you've done? Also, will it be the same price as a standard Warpig?

No pic I'm afraid and it'd be £80 as it's only one coil!
-
Only one coil? :? I was really asking for a full-sized Warpig to be squeezed into a P90 package. Will a P90 Warpig with only one coil really sound like the full-sized humbucking model?
Maybe I should just get a new scratchplate cut and order the standard model

You'll never get a Warpig under a P90 cover its impossible and humbucking P90 designs never sound right so if a Warpig is the tone you want, a Warpig is what you should have.
-
I'm sure the P90 Warpig would sound great and the prospect of having something a little different is appealing - how would you describe the P90 Warpig tone? How is it different from the standard 'Pig?
-
Being a P90 it has a lot more focus and cut. It's still very high gain but not mushy at all.You get alot of power too from the dual magnet design of a P90.
-
That description of a P90 Warpig sounds VERY appealing. I love the P90 tone - too many options, aghhhh!!!
-
P-90 Warpig....wow! That would look (and sound) cool in an SG Classic or Pete Townsend Signature. I think Satan is getting ready to order a set for his!
Tim, I think you should make it a regular production model.
-
A regular production model of a P-90 warpig would be good, but you have to take into account that some people who have P-90 guitars might not want that much power, the warpig is phenomenally powerfull remember. A regular production of a P-90 Miricale man or Riff Raff would probably be better, more people will want that sort of sound in a P-90 guitar methinks
-
P-90's are mostly used for blues, aren't they? But I've heard the Lindy Fralin Blues Bar is also pretty hot. I'm not a real blues player but I know my Warpig does a pretty good 'wrong-side-of-the-tracks' blues. A P90 Warpig would be someting that's never been done before, it might catch on :)
If I had a P-90 equipped guitar, I'd get me a set!
-
just fitted a P92 to an old Goldtop Deluxe Les paul
Sounded wonderful
That is the sound i want in a humbucker - perfect for 1980s rock!
Somehow it was just sweeter than a humbucker - delicious
-
How about a P100 Warpig? (P100 is a stacked humbucker in a P90 housing)
Maybe that's a good sollution Heavier Than Hell. :P
-
Leave it with me guys, I need to get LGS outta the way and then I'll have a look at what I can do re Pig 90.
-
Beast! I cant wait for soundclips then! The suggestion of a P-100 Warpig is quite appealing - it would sound awesome in a Tele!

I wouldn't touch a P100 design as I don't think they work, they sound nothing like a P90-what I'll do is aim to capture the character of a P90 in a high gain format, that means retaining the growl and bite.
-
True, if it sounds better go for it. I love humbuckers but if i was to have a guitar with single coils it would have to be something with P-90's
-
Isn't a P-90 the MXR Phaser?
Andy!
-
Thats the Phase 90 foo! P-90 is the little soapbar pickup remember
-
Ah yeah, they aint half bad, I wouldn't mind geting one of those PRS's with those in :)
Andy!
-
You mean the SE ones? the are VERY good trust me, played on one in stoke a few weeks ago and was very impressed!
-
P90 are amazing single coils, I loved the soundclips of the SG classic. I've never heard the P100's, I was just brainstorming a bit.
Another great single coil is the old DeArmond (now called the Y2K). Too bad these won't do distorted powerchords very well.
-
P-100's are stacked singlecoils, so basically humbuckers, in a P-90 shell. Its great to see how many people are decieved thinking they are P-90's and then they unleash!
-
I thought P-100's were bigger versions of P-90's, in a humbucker shell, so you could have P-90's in your humbucker equipped LP fr'instance?
Andy!
-
That would be the P-94. Looks like gibson doesn't even make the p-100's anymore.
-
true, P-94 is the hum sized P-90 and you dont see them very often anymore. the P-100 is like 2 P-90's on top of each other
-
I make a P90 in a humbucker shell-it's not up on the site yet but we do make them. PDT_015
-
I think that Pig90's would be a cool idea, same output and beefyness as the WarPig but with a little more bite and crunch, marketed to those ex-Garage rockers turned METAL!
Andy!
-
Bucket, that's exactly what I had in mind for my SG - the grunt of a hot 'bucker bit with that agressive P90 midrange and top end bite.
Just got a Slayer dvd as a birthday present, got in on now & those guys are ripping it up
-
I have to say a Warpig P90 would be an awesome thing - especially as P90s are appearing everywhere at the moment (oh how I covet the Squier Tele Custom II - and at 175 quid I can probably get it!)
-
Slayer, my God those boys can Shred.
Hmmm, think I might invest in a set of WarPigs, if I ever get my custom Vee :D
Andy!
-
Nicely done, that would sound VERY awesome! I hope you do get that, cant wait to hear!
