Title: "Mustang style" humbucker??
Post by: Dixie_Crap on December 19, 2008, 01:29:11 AM
Ok, so I just got my fender cyclone :D But the electronics are a bit dodgy, so i have taken it to V & R to get it sorted out.
While its in the workshop it seems the perfect time to look at upgrading the pickups.

My question is: is it possible to get a humbucker that looks like two mustang style pickups stuck together? i.e no pole pieces and if so would it affect the pickup much?

Also can a neck single coil be calibrated with a bridge humbucker so that the bridge/neck combination doesn't sounds so strange?

The neck single/bridge humbucker isn't a problem, the neck position is naturally a bit louder anyway, so a hot single will match the bridge no worries.

You can get a plain cover without pole pieces shown, most popular in black but i think you can get white plastic ones that snap on cheaply.
