Good thing or bad thing?

Good thing IMO.

It's not exactly my cup of tea, but there are far too few distinctive rock vocalists right now & far too few bands with a sense of humour :)

oh, good thing, absolutely!  as Antag says, he's a distinctive singer.  listen to this and then listen to Stone Gods, the rest of the Darkness.  they're a decent band, but they lack the distinctiveness and charisma that just oozes out of Justin.  whether you like him or not (and i know a lot of people can't stand him!) he's well worth having around. and i love the guitar sound on this! i see he's got a pretty good player on the other guitar

Don't like it.

yeah, good thing, but just doesn't quite hit it. Stone Gods are kinda better, although for me, they don't really hit it either.... in terms of this music it's all about Airbourne. they know how to rock.

I don't like it, but I'm completely uninterested in this kind of music, so my opinion is here nor there really.

If it get's kids into rock music then great.

I do wish a guitar band who weren't just rehashing a band they like could get some mainstream recognition though. At least this isn't as laughable as Airbourne and Black Stone Cherry.

it's alright, but the darkness was better. Still, at least it's actual rock music, and there's a solo in there, so i guess it's not all bad. :)

Hawkins gets right on my t1ts, nowt wrong with some humour but he's bordering on 'Tap.

Actually, The Darkness never did a song as good as Sex Farm Woman, and I'm being totally serious.

I'm with dave_mc - it's ok, but I preferred the Darkness. Sounds good, don't think much of the video though (mind you, I've never really like "videos" as medium for music )

Why isn't he playing the guitar anymore? I thought he was quite good when I saw the Darkness, better (for my tastes) than that ugly widdly-widdly bloke in the video anyway

+1, I always thought he was a pretty good lead player- and for stuff that gets into the charts these days, verging on virtuosic!

Not bad but I'm really bored of bands trying to bring this sort of rock back. It just wont happen and they all end up sounding really dull.

Justins voice gets really annoying as well.

Ohhhhh man That guitar sound is to die for, and fair do's on that solo too, awesome!

Gotta say I like the new look too. Liked the Darkness but I always thought the catsuits were taking it a bit too far, love the Hanoi Rocks / Early G'n'R / Skid Row thing they've got going on at the mo.

Only thing that could improve this song I think are his lyrics. Apart from that it was quite an enjoyable little video!  :)

haha, i'm the opposite, i wish it would come back. only problem is, when they bring anything back, it normally isn't as good as it was originally... :(

+1, avoided this thread for a bit because of that. He looks $%&#ed, can't say I like the song either, more funky than pure rock

I'm thinking of doing that as well.
The Darkness had some great early gigs.

Only just seen this thread.

The song's OK, but I can't helping thinking there's something phoney about them.  They don't look like Hanoi/Faster Pussycat/early Gn'R, they look more like Armstrong & Miller as "Strijka".

What's going on with the hairbands, are they to hold their wigs on?  :?

He's not for me. That said I have not heard much of his new project so I may end up changing my mind.

I am sad that I missed them supporting Extreme last month . Especially as Justin and Gary did a Queen medley (so I heard) to mark the anniversary of Freddie's death.

one of the bars we were drinking in had a bit of freddie mercury memorobilia on the wall, and conincidentally were playing a bit of "the darkness", and now i read this thread, what a conincidence!

saw hot leg when the supported Alter Bridge recently.

I have never heard a more hostile crowd, I felt pretty bad for them but in all honesty I couldn't wait for them to finish.

it appears that Justin actually plays all the guitar on the song. seemingly he recorded the whole album himself then put the band together to play it live.

That's interesting because when I saw them the other guitarist (who was technically amazing) was playing all of the solos, they looked proper hard to play

I think I saw an interview on youtube which says the new set-up is that Justin plays the start of each solo and then the other guy finishes it off with a bit of shred.

I'm pretty happy he's back, it's always good to hear something different (rock music) on the radio at work

Just downloaded all their stuff off Amazon. It's brilliant, i'm preferring them to Stone Gods now. I'm liking the country style picking in their songs. The solos are immense too.

Just found this on YouTube while watching the originally posted video:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rMtzuRzKwXk&NR=1

They trade off in the solo and finish it by doubling up and Justin seems to play just as much lead (if not more) as he did when I saw The Darkness a few years ago :)

I dunno if it's possible, but these are cheesier than The Darkness were, seems good so far though!

Not trying to rag on them but in this months guitarist Justin and the other guitar player look like a couple of drag queens. Nothing wrong with it, it's like a ticket to the 80's

A ticket of dreams.. ah.. The 80s, when shred was essential in the middle of every ballad :)
