Title: Pickups for a Fender Cyclone
Post by: s0nicp on December 20, 2008, 11:10:06 PM
I was toying with the idea of buying a new guitar for ages but really like my Fender cyclone with single coil at neck and humbucker at bridge so am keeping it and replacing the parts i like the least.
It has a les paul pickup switch and im looking for a bareknuckle pickup combination to replace the nasty mexican fender pickups. I have mostly been using the neck pickup for its fender type clean tones and then switching to the bucker for thick lead tones. I play a very wide range of music so am looking for a fender ish classic sounding neck pickup and something i chug out metallica solos to at the bridge

i have a squier cyclone, and i think its a wicked little guitar :) i changed the pickguard to a dual single coil arrangement, like a mustang. i would fit a vintage hot neck (have a slowhand in mine), and your choice of metal pickup in the bridge. was tempted to fit a crawler myself, before changing it to S/S

thanks for the reply. I was thinking of doing the mustang thing and doing twin single coils. I just dont want to lose the versatility. I was thinking of a slow hand or mothers milk in the neck and a crawler at the bridge.. I need to get a better idea of the sound first though. Im going to do all the electrics at the same time and replace the pots. Im prob gonna replace the tuners as well ha

thats my pimped cyclone. with something like trilogies and a base plate on the bridge, you will definitely still be able to play metal. i'm going to go for some hefty singles in this guitar next
