because my graphics card is broke and my really old spare one is too old to fit in the slot :(
now I have to use a laptop with xp and 256mb of ram and it's slower than a doom metal album
I had plans to get a new one anyway but it's annoying as hell, my mate has a spare card though so I'll be using that tomorrow and get the bits ordered for my new one
FAO Roo: that means we can play left 4 dead!!! and it's £20 on steam until jan 2nd

Sucks doesn't it, and 256Mb of RAM ... so 20th century :) Surprised XP even runs on 256Mb ...
Spent half my xmas moving a business from Malta to Guernsey 'cos an earthquake cut off most of the network between Malta and the rest of the world, and their Disaster Recovery site turned out to have an order of magnitude less power than was required when it failed over ... although to be fair on the computers here this was mostly the fault of the idiots who set it up in the first place rather than the silicon involved :p
Nevertheless it always pays to have a drawer of decent spare parts next to the PC (or entire machine rooms worth in my case ...)

I'd been running XP on a 1MHz processor and 256mb of ram for ages but the other day my mate took pity on me and built me a new one with 2 gig of ram, a shite hot graphics card and a 3MHz processor, In a new shell, for 50 quid.
