Sometimes, you just know it's a great deal and you have to have it?
Browsing my favourite PRS dealer's site last night I came across his updated "winter bargains" page. There she was, a PRS Mira Maple Top in Dark Cherry Sunburst with a wide-thin neck. So it was up early this morning, taking my Gibson Les Paul Junior Special with me, to sort out a deal.
Brand new and at £899(!!!), there was no way I was missing out on this! It's darker in colour in real life.....

Very nice. Enjoy!
-
I like the look of these ones as well as the one you got, pity they are not left handed.

Did they not have two then? Looks very purdy.
-
Nice work! I love PRS's dark cherry sunburst. A part of me regrets not getting my SC245 in that color. How does it sound?
-
Awesome Dave - will you be taking all of your guitars, amps and effects to the BKP meet in Feb? :D
-
sweet :)
was that £899 after you traded in the gibson or before?
-
WOW that's beautifull, I'm not a prs fan but the Mira are stunning even more so with the top.
899 was the price with the part ex right?!
-
Nice one
-
Woah I just went to the site, it was £899 outright! What a steal!!!!! Nice one!
-
You are SOO predictable Dave :P
I knew this year wouldn't end without another NPRSD.
-
It was £899 cash :o That's why I had to have it! I got it for £500 + my Gibson. I think the Gibbo would have sold privately at some point for around £500, so I got a reasonable deal. I still saved £350 :)
It sounds very nice! Not massively different from a stock Mira, but there's a bit more top end and a bit more clarity. It's a touch more 'civilised'.
It'll now be my main Doppelganger rehearsal guitar (as it's so versatile I can use 1 guitar for rehearsal) , and it'll be my backup for 'DC gigs.

I'll take most of my amps, and a selection of guitars. If there's anything in particular you want me to take, let me know :)
-
Oh you crazy man!
Looks great though, and you can't argue with a price like that!
-
I knew you'd be interested Phil ;)
-
I just went and had a look at that Winter Deals page - not to buy anything, just to see if I could tough it out...
I see he still has that Tele!
-

Haha. Take them all. All of them!
It's probably not worth asking you to list your guitars now as they will probably change before the meet!
-
Ha ha! Probably!
I saw that Tele Phil, looks lovely. He's had two people come to the shop to try it, and they've both left to think about it. Err, you know what it is before you travel and the price is superb so what is there to think about????

I suspect if I actually tried it I wouldn't be able to resist.
£1,499 is still a lot of money, though, even when it's a (relative) bargain.

ah, that's not too bad. :)

i dunno, i mean you're the one who won't buy a custom guitar because you have to try it first to see if you like it...
;)
-
That's true! They mustn't have liked it :)
-
yeah. i'm guessing they have different necks etc.?
either that or they just were curious and wanted to try it... or maybe they liked it but not the price...
:)
-
The silver sparkle prs single cut looks cool as hell and is a bargain!
-
I thought that too!
Speaking to Mark, he likes to do a few guitars at "Crazy Deal Prices" rather than knock £50 off everything. That way, the bargain buyers rave to everyone about their great deal and he gets a load of potential new customers......
-
Looks niiiice! :D How many PRS's is that now Dave?
And which shop/dealer is this you're talking about chaps? ^
-
It's Guitars4You: www.guitars4you.co.uk
That's 5 PRS's now
And I'm on the lookout for the 6th (McCarty with solid rosewood neck). Then I can decide which ones I like 'best' and just keep those...
-
Severe GAS alert for me and we're only a few hours into 2009! Bloody guitarist calendar with it's '54 relic tele and the guitars4you website are both equally to blame.
-
And which shop/dealer is this you're talking about chaps? ^
probably whichever one just bought a new swimming pool...
-
nice colours! :)
-
Just looking at that relic tele again on guitars4u. Am now seriously considering part ex-ing my strat for it.
-
Whoops - sorry Ian!
-
No worries mate! I'm hoping that the Signature will remove my GAS for a while! I'm expecting it any day now.
-
Yep, should be with you today I hope :)
-
I see he still has that Tele!
He does still have that Tele. I made a quick call today - just to check!
Unfrotuantely I won't be able to afford it by trading the strat so it comes down to either selling my current tele or keeping it until the GAS has subsided!

I hope someone buys it, to take away the temptation!

Unfortunately I won't be able to afford it by trading the strat so it comes down to either selling my current tele or keeping it until the GAS has subsided!
Me too! I am trying to convince myself it would be too risky a purchase if I bought it without seeing it/playing it first!

I suspect it's not too risky at all - I bet it's a monster. But it is a lot of money.
I was sitting playing one of my own Teles this afternoon, sounding dreadful - and it struck me that I'd still sound dreadful on that Relic. It'd still be me playing it.

A monster - I wish you hadn't said that! Also my tele wasn't sounding good this afternoon - I'm not sure if it was me half thinking it didn't sound good so I had an excuse to buy the relic. Probably.
-
I've made my mind up. I'm not going to be buying that tele. That's my last word on it!
-

Me neither.
Especially since I just impulse-bought a new neck for my hardtail Strat.
-
Come on Dave - you know you want to buy it now that me and Philly are out of the running!
-
Nope, not for me. I'm after a rosewood necked PRS McCarty, or a Modern Eagle. Not interested in anything else.....

Great way to start the shopping year
Fender or Warmoth?

Just another Fender American Standard neck, one-piece maple. I never liked the rosewood-board neck on my Inca Silver Strat, I was thinking of selling the guitar but Am Std hardtails are pretty rare. So I decided to get a maple neck instead.
-
sincerely i can't see what excites you all about the mira... maybe it's because i don't like those pickguards, but it's maybe the only PRS i'd never buy in my life... :(
it's just a matter of personal taste, of course... i believe it sounds and feels as good as any othe PRS model...
-
Try one, and come back to us ;)
I've been playing the new maple top all evening and it's one sweet, sweet guitar. Sustains forever, really sings, and the split sounds are really twangy like a good Tele. Superbly versatile guitar.
Can't wait to try it at volume at rehearsal on Wednesday...
