Title: Mules Doing Stuff
Post by: AndyR on January 01, 2009, 03:16:25 PM
The Magical Mule Orchestra of Tooting

I'm not sure what I was really expecting to create when I started this one. It started life as a funky little riff in A, but I'd been listening to Thin Lizzy, so I started harmonising... and then it kinda got out of hand...

The guitar is a Tokai Love Rock with Mules in (mostly using the bridge, some middle possition stuff). I've seriously bonded with this guitar while doing the tracking for this. It's using a variety of amp models on my Vox Tonelab LE. Some of the effects are on the amp patches.

The bass is a Line6 Variax imitating a 70s Ric, and it's playing through my PODXTLive with the bass expansion pack - can't remember what the amp model was, but the patch is called "Albert Hall" ("think big" was my reasoning )

A variety of plectrums were used for a variety of different effects  8)

Everything else is on my BOSS Micro-BR - best Chrimbo pressie I've had in years!! :D

Great stuff - I really like that. In fact I like it so much I have imported it in to cubase and have started recording some improv stuff over it - hope there is no copyright infringement!

No problem - as long as you don't come up with a hit and make pots of money without telling me

(We'll probably find out that I've ripped it off from somewhere anyway )

Thanks chaps, very encouraging :D

I'm working on the next one (Irish Tours this time) but I've got a bit carried away with the production values this time... might be a few days yet...

Very nice, indeed. Reminds me of Mike Oldfield too.

Nice Andy, I'ts inspired me to try and use my BR properly instead of just a mic and recorder.
The amp models sound much better than I remember, good work

This one's not using any of the BRs amp models Tom - it's my Vox Tonelab LE for the guitar parts.

I've only used the BRs amp models once - I think they're probably better than I've managed with them so far, but they'll need a bit of work... and I've already got all my tried and trusted patches in the Vox.

But yeah - the BR is a stunning little beast. I'm getting sucked into "over-ambitious" on my current project though

Very, very good indeed Andy.

I have a BR900CD and I really should pull the finger out and start multi tracking. Hearing your excellent work may just inspire me to just that  :D

Next one's not shaping up as good though :?
