hi guys,
before I search wreaklessly around the net, I thought I'd post here. The nobs I put on my new explorer are for right handers - as in the numbers go the wrong way round/or I can't see what volume number I'm on (I know wasn't thinking ahead...). Basically I'd need left-handed knobs, but I doubt anyplace sells them loose!?
cheers

I think manufacturers just invented blank ones to counter that problem. Like metal knobs. It'll save you a few hopeless hours finding left handed ones.
-
I honestly didn't realise that people use those numbers on the knobs, I just turn them till it sounds right for the tone I'm wanting.

I have always thought of it as a cosmetic issue hence why the OP is looking for them
-
I've used metal blanks on all other things I've built, but as menionted, never really looked at settings - just turned it up til it sounded ok. Now that I'm mixing the sound of both humbuckers, I decided to get numbers so as to know where my preferred set up is rather than having to find it each time...hence numbers! I guess I'll just have to learn to read backwards....as in 0 is actually 10 and 10 actually 0..... :(
-
Or you could put a sticker on your guitar, which has the numbers and mark a little line on your metal knob. DIY eat your heart out.
-
Always make sure that you have a mirror handy and play in front of it.

lol, going by the stereotype of guitarists: "no worries, I always play in front of a mirror!" :P
Not so keen on stickers on the guitar....looks a bit un-pro I feel..... tis a real issue, and I can't find anywhere online which would supply left-handed knobs...looks like I'm buying a pre-built left-handed model, just to nick the knobs :?

:lol:Nah that's a technique called "The Stranger" where you sit on your hand until it goes numb before you start turning the knob.

I wonder why they don't ship to Italy O.o
"we can not ship to Italy due to customs regulations prohibiting the import of musical instrument parts"
just bought them - wonder how long they'll take before I can finally read my controls properly!

i don't think so... i actually bought a bunch of pickups online, even from the USA... they just made me pay some tax on them in the latter case.
anyway i'll never get tired to say that italy is one of the worst states on earth...

I work with a bloke who's a bit of a nob... and he's left-handed... any help? :D
Sorry - had to get that out of my system.... it's the first thing I thought when this thread went up, and I still can't get it out of my mind everytime I see the title... hopefully this post exorcises it

lol, I was expecting a lot more replies like this when I started this! nobs arrived yesterday, case today, only thing missing is strap-locks..... oh, and the fact that I need to put in some inlay in April (no time before), but I'll try get some pics up before then to make sure it exits!
-
Strangely, I think you'd have had more responses like that had you used the more orthodox spelling 'knob', because then we'd all feel as though we were being slightly more clever with our witty comments. :)

the proof it exists! sorry, no better picture atm, and still need to make a truss-rod cover and perhaps the inlay for the head-stock, but that'll have to wait until easter hols...
-
That's an excellent picture - mebbe not as a demonstration/example of the guitar itself (which looks really good by the way) - but as a rockin pic, it is SUPERB :D
Doesn't illustrate the left-hand knobs/nobs very well though

Cheers, I have an excellent photographer who gets brilliant rocking pics.... I must one day ask him to do a photoshoot with my guitar! He's doing more shots at our next gigs a week on Tues, so hopefully get a better one then...
