Title: Mules Killswitch Engage clip
Post by: _tom_ on January 03, 2009, 12:13:56 PM
I dont usually play this style so the playings a bit sloppy and my guitars a bit out of tune in places. Bridge mule into Amplitube 2 on a metal patch.

Any ideas on how to improve the sound a bit? I used a low pass to get rid of some of the fizz but I'm stuck now!

edit - and one using the Laney instead of amplitube - http://www.netmusicians.org/files/18-fotd2.mp3

Cheers Johnny :) I've recorded with my Laney now, sounds a bit better but the playings not quite so good.

That was at loud-ish bedroom volume.

Yeah, you really need a boost for metal though, its not gainy or tight enough without one. I'd like something a bit higher output though, maybe if/when I get a wezv sg I can get something more metal for it :P

It's a beautiful tone in and of itself, and one i'd love to be able to achieve something even half as decent...
but i hope you're not trying to emulate the actual Killswitch tone, because if that's your aim, it needs a bit of work still.

Sounds great. Not quite enough output for true KSE tone, but it really does sound great. The tone of the mules is very organic and awesome. I would love to hear your take with a Nailbomb or Warpig. Maybe even a Cold Sweat.

Yeah I'm not trying to emulate the actual tone, I dont really have the gear or style of playing for it. The laney doesnt get very saturated so it always sounds a bit stiff and clean. I'd like to try some higher output humbuckers just to see what they're like, the only other high output pickup I have is a Pig 90, which I dont like loads for metal, its great for rock though.

Well I may be getting a WezV SG (like phil kings but with humbuckers) this year so they may be an option for that :)
