Evening all. I'm looking at getting a BKP neck PUP for my tele. I love the bridge PUP it already has but the neck sounds like it is lacking some definition. Basically I'm looking for a warm'n'creamy sounding pickup that has a really nice chiming clean sound. Any advice?
As far as output goes does anyone know if Tim can build to balance output with a non BKP PUP?

I haven't really got a handle on the differences between the various BKP Tele neck models, but I know the type of wire makes a difference. I kept a note of this comment from Tim:
Tele neck coils are amongst the smallest of the single coils and traditionally wound with 43 gauge so always sound warm no matter how you wind them.We now make the Blackguard Tele Series necks with 42 gauge as per the original '52 spec-these are much brighter and cleaner than the 43 gauge necks so you've got plenty of choice in the range.
Personally I like a really warm-sounding Tele neck pickup, without too much definition, so I guess I'd be looking for something with 43 gauge wire. Don't know which models that would apply to, though.

Cheers Philly - that helps a little. Maybe I'll give Tim a call to discuss in more detail. Would be great to have a facility or something where you could try different pickups before you buy!

The Blackguard neck pickup is very nice, it is well defined but sweet as well. It's great for Jazz and blues IMO.
I'm not a Tele expert as this is the first one I've actually owned but of the teles I've played the BG is the most usable for me.
I'll try to record a quick clip by the end of the day!

Cheers Tom - are you going to the BKP meet in Feb?

Yes mate I'll be there. Is there a definite date yet?

I'm working on it folks ;)

Good stuff - would be good if you take your Blackguarded tele along!

I've added a clip in the players section.
Yeah, will bring the Tele, it goes everywhere with me!
