I just got a phonecall from my local luthier who i'm getting to install my Nailbomb - Trilogy - Nailbomb set in my vigier excalibur ultra, he has informed me that in order to replace the EMG's he will need to do additional routing to the guitar to fit the BKP's which may detract from the guitars finish.
My options are either having a Scratchplate (i'm thinking mirror black or white pearloid) or having p/up mounting rings (inc the single coils)
Anyone got any ideas / opinions? a picture of my guitar is linked below, my objective is simple - REMOVE EMG's

The humbuckers should not be a problem, the single coil centre bulge with the exiting wires will be the reason for the mods, if it were me I would install the humbuckers first and leave the centre EMG there just to fill the hole until I could work out the single problem as it would be a shame to deface such a beautiful guitar (I hate scratch plates anyhow) maybe Tim could build a single coil with end exiting wires! like some SDs!

I had a look at the luthiers handywork online (lalawethika.com) and its very tidy, so i'm going to go with the p/up mounting rings as a scratchplate would make it look a little to Superstrat-ish i think that black metal mounting rings will retain the class of the guitar.
I'll have a chat with James (the luthier) and see what i end up going for.

You could always get a cheap middle single that fits and send it to Tim for a rewind.

If its the humbuckkers that are the issues, surely you can sand / file the 'foot' to fit the route?
Or if its the single, patience! I think Tim will accept a return for a correction to the EMG (smaller) style baseplate (I think he also makes that variety)

^ That's what I'd do :)

You can get BK's with an EMG style base, I have a Slowhand like that in one of my guitars, it is the walnut one in the picture (the others are a Les Paul Junior with a Pig-90 and a Richwood Explorer with a Warpig/MQ combination).

adding a scratchplate to a guitar that hasn't got one by stock is a crime officially recognized by the UN
