Title: Pick-up names and voicing?
Post by: Madiac on January 07, 2009, 10:21:15 PM
Hey, just wondering, since the pick-ups are named after songs, are they voiced after the tone of that song or band they are named? I was thinking for example the Riff Raffs (Ac/Dc) etc.. but then i thought of the War Pigs (black sabbath), which to me seem more like high gain modern metal pick-ups more than black sabbaths old tone. So how does it all work? Thanks!

To answer the question, yes, although they aren't designed as carbon copies.

Other people will be able to get you further info as I only have the Ceramic Warpig set.

I don't think the warpig sound exactly like old Sabbath, but it does capture that sludgy midrange grind
more like the '98 reunion album and the new Heaven & Hell DVD

Well, anyhow, if they are indeed very close to the "name" then im just glad and i surely made the righ choice by ordering a pair of mississippi queens, that tone rocks haha;)

We have a MQ neck and that is a seriously nice tone, we had a NB bridge with it though. I hope you like them!

could be wrong here, but i thought i remembered something about about the pickups capturing more of the essence or something of the song, but not necessarily that exact tone.
