Anyone heard of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Michael-Kelly-Patriot-Limited-Archtop-Guitar-Spalt_W0QQitemZ390022271985QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item390022271985&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1298|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

He's apparently the bees knees in the US, but they're pretty cheap I guess you just need someone bold enough to buy one and report back.
The Hex/Vex series and Patriot Premium (quilt top, etc.) look tasty.

... or I could buy one, given that I'm a fool with about £400 to spend...

I've read that they play well and sound good but suffer from having lightweight volume and tone knobs which are prone to breaking.
Mind you, the first thing I would do is replace those anyway. They aren't my thing.

Looks like the bookmatch doesn't go straight down the middle of the guitar which twist my mellon. Although that could be over critical as the rest of it looks really nice.

The valor looks rather nice.
